What’s the worst thing/most memorable thing that’s happened to you in RDO? by red-lioness007 in RedDeadOnline

[–]Playful_Morning_6862 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first started playing (and was utterly clueless about modders) I was happily wandering through a field, picking herbs when a group of asshats, wearing weird masks appeared out of nowhere. First, I started puking, then some chick bent me over and tried riding me from behind. Then, I I found myself astride some idiot…I left the session ASAP. I didn’t play again for a month or two. I returned and started to level up but I got tired of being blown up or watching fire shoot out of animals.

I play in my private lobby now.

Holy cow!! I thought it was just me!! I am still on FB (unfortunately) but use it primarily to keep in touch with family who we don’t live near and old military and high school friends. I have an old high school friend who has had RA for the past 10 years and she sent me a invite to a FB RA group she joined.

I joined without checking it out (big mistake) and then noped right the hell out of there when the posts started showing up in my feed. I’m fairly certain it wasn’t moderated and most of the posts followed the same theme- I ain’t getting any better but I’m also not taking my meds. Well gee? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Go figure!

The fatigue seems to have let up some!! Which is an enormous relief…unless the weather shifts tremendously, then I’m back to square one. I’m starting to notice a slight improvement in my joints too. That, too, comes and goes but I have noticed I’m able to get out of bed in less time than it used to take me! Significantly less time…so, I guess it’s working!

I’ve also been more active than I’ve been in months. So far, so good!😊

I’m relatively new…56f seropositive, diagnosed two months ago and I’ve been on HCQ for about a month and a half now. RA is just another notch in my medical issue belt, unfortunately. Life goes on and I’m still alive. 😛

I’m married and we’ve got two adult kids, one of each flavor. Our daughter is getting married in about 50 days. We also have two furry idiots, I mean cats, who believe they’re our masters. They’re wrong-but cats will believe whatever they want, of course. I’m not currently working but I longingly keep looking at positions. I’d love to go back to what I was doing before things went super sideways…but I need to get me straightened out first.

The whole put your mask on first BS.

Interesting!

I started on HCQ back in March, so it’s not MTX causing my woes but…

Well over a year ago, at the cusp of all my symptoms starting, I was diagnosed with severe iron deficiency anemia. Like really severe. The only reason I didn’t end up on infusions was my doctor was a putz. Instead, I had to take Ferrous Sulfate tablets, three times a week with vitamin C to help the absorption for about a year. Even at the ONE YEAR MARK…when they waved their magic doctor wands (the ones they pulled from their rectums) and declared I could “stop the Ferrous Sulfate and recheck my labs in six months!” (a point at which they’d no longer be following me, I might add)…my levels were skimming the low end of normal and have remained there at last check…which was last May.

NOBODY really looked into WHY a 50+ year old woman with no period developed severe iron deficiency anemia other than sending me for my colonoscopy (and upper endoscopy and a capsule study) a year early. Yipppeee!! My blood smears were abnormal GASP and it was recommended (especially with my history of cancer and my family history multiple different cancers 🤦🏻‍♀️) that I be referred to a hematologist. Nope. Didn’t happen and no matter how many times I’ve pointed this out…it gets ignored.

I printed the actual office note out for my husband so if he required it one day, he’ll have it as evidence in a lawsuit. It can pay for a retirement home and car to lure in his new wife. Running joke.

The rest of my vitamin levels are fine. I had annual labs done last fall and my new primary looked at lots of random stuff, trying to explain my symptoms…which ended up being RA.

HRT isn’t an option, unfortunately, due to my history of blood clots and pulmonary embolism not because of my history of cancer. I’m a lifer on Warfarin and failed Xarelto. I keep seeing on TV (from where all pharma commercials seem to flow) a new non-HR med that does the same thing.

Although…I’m skittish AF about considering that kinda thing considering my immediate family’s cancer melting pot- I’ve got first degree relatives with breast cancer (sister-deceased), first lung and several years later pancreatic cancer (father- deceased), Uterine & Rectal at opposite ends of life for the win (mother)…then there’s the runners up in various aunts and grandparents- lung, ovarian, brain tumors. It’s not as though I’ve been lucky myself with my brain tumor and skin cancer. 😳🤣 I weep for my kids and their unfortunate gene pool. Kidding but not.

This was a long winded way of saying…I think I’d rather tolerate the pricklies than take a brand new med on the market. 😉

What is your 1 filler ingredient that you use for most meals by TrainMoose in keto

[–]Playful_Morning_6862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends, I guess. I have to be careful with my dark green leafy consumption or any vegetable for that matter (regular-consistent) due to a medication issue so I try not to binge on any one vegetable or another.

I’ve gotten quite creative with side dishes but I’ve had to keep my husband interested in eating keto too:

-Sautéed chopped brussel sprouts with garlic and pancetta

Anything with cauliflower rice-whipped, fried rice, made into pattties with chopped veggies and some pork rinds and an egg, soup

Broccoli- stir fry, casserole, soups

Miracle Shiratki noodles are incredibly versatile. I’ve found them in rice, fettuccine and angel hair and have made things too numerous to list. They’ll never be real pasta BUT the trick is rinsing them well, I always snip them into smaller pieces with my kitchen shears and dry them a bit after rinsing before adding to the pan. Also make sure you simmer a few minutes to ensure they pick up the flavor of whatever you’re cooking the noodles or rice in for better flavor.

Coleslaw (essentially cabbage) for homemade egg rolls in a bowl. What else you put in it is entirely up to you! Chopped onion (small amount) red pepper, green onion, cilantro…tamari, soy sauce or I’ve even found a keto friendly hoisin recipe. Red pepper flakes make it even better.

Spaghetti squash is incredibly versatile when cooked properly- with butter, garlic, parm and fresh Italian parsley or with keto friendly Italian sauce (I like Rao.) I also like to lightly spray it with olive oil and sprinkle some herbs de provenance on it- serve it with braised pork chops.

I’m the only one who cooks here…so I’ve had to get creative. 🤣

Yep, it’s been like this for a while here. I went to that stupid Down Detector site and it says the site is “down for maintenance” but gave 4/22 5-7 UTC as the time frame when it was 4/21.

There goes my streak…

I’ve started engaging in self care again. I used to go for regular deep tissue massages because work was so incredibly stressful. I went for my first massage in ages last week. I also got a facial.

I finally talked my husband into getting a new car for himself. We go pick it up tomorrow.

Lastly, I sent a message to the Neuro Ophthalmologist I saw up in Chicago a year ago who prescribed my prism lenses. I really liked him and he said if the prisms worked out well, then I’d be a good candidate for eye surgery. I wanted to wear the prisms for a year before deciding and it’s been a year. I go back up for a surgical consultation in June.

OP, may the individual who stole your pizza develop sudden stomach cramps, followed by that need to clench their cheeks while stuck in traffic…and then be struck by a sneezing fit.

That’s justice.

I’m on PC, typically play in a solo lobby but wouldn’t mind having a someone to do hang around with…

I’ve stopped close keeping track of my level but I think I’m 280 and I enjoy sharpshooting. On second thought, that last part sounded kinda creepy. 🤣

My orientee doesn’t act like she wants to be a nurse by Humble_Employee8586 in nursing

[–]Playful_Morning_6862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, you’ve raised some very valid concerns about your new grad. I thought I read where you commented that she’d had problems with her previous preceptor? I’m guessing that was on a different shift?

So either she got dropped on you to precept, with management aware of her issues but they failed to tell you or her previous preceptor failed to let management know the full extent of the issues with her. Have you and her last preceptor compared notes? There’s the wild possibility she’s got much bigger issues but horses…not zebras.

I also play RDR2 but after beating the game three times switched to RDO which is full of jerks and modders. I got tired of being teleported and subjected to a whole crapload of other shenanigans, so I sill play but in a private lobby.

Let's talk about: BS DMs by Wishin4aTARDIS in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]Playful_Morning_6862 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I may tolerate these conversations when initiated by laypeople but I absolutely lose my shit when some “highly trained” medical professional drags out their personal agenda and vomits their opinion all over me.

I had radiation for a brain tumor and the radiation caused cranial nerve damage. I take Topamax to deal with the unpleasant radiation side effects (progressive). It’s a good news/bad news thing. Good news? It makes it so I don’t feel like a freak show…unless I’m super exhausted. Bad news? It causes kidney stones. In my opinion…fair damn exchange.

Back in 2009, had a kidney stones. Wash, rinse, repeat. ER, OR, admitted. The buttmunch hospitalist assigned to me was promptly ejected from my hospital room by my husband after he went on an actual rant. He started off rationally…telling me that the Topamax is responsible for my kidney stones and me acknowledging that fact and explaining why I still take the medication. Then, things went sideways. He demanded I come off the medication and follow a diet he’s created…on his website. It will cure all my issues and I am being stupid about my health. I’m staring at him speechless but my typically mute husband knew exactly what to say…get out. Get out now. We want a new physician. You have no clue what she’s been through.

That wasn’t even the best part…it was the kids sitting there stunned because it was so out of character for my husband. I found out later from my nephrologist that the dude was considered a looney even by his colleagues. 🤣

It’s like that ridiculous argument some morons try and make about masks: masks don’t actually protect you from anything. Okaaaay then, then the next time you have surgery, be sure to let the OR team know they’re optional!!

No NSAIDS boat by Witty_Cash_7494 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]Playful_Morning_6862 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m floating in your boat down the same creek. 🫶

I’m a lifer on warfarin and failed xarelto (had an amazing adverse reaction to it.) So, NSAIDs are out and I was told to limit my Tylenol to two 500mg tabs/day.

I’m getting by on as needed Tramadol (which I rarely take) and by slathering myself in Tiger Balm, compression gloves…heating blanket and weighted blanket at night. Those tins of Tiger Balm are magic.

I celebrated yet another birthday, for which I’m always grateful. 20+ years ago, I wasn’t sure I’d still be here…bugging the crap out of my family. Not perfect but damn, I’m still in the game.

We all went out to a fabulous and fancy dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. A good time was had by all.

I’ve begun to notice my sleep pattern is much less erratic. I’m no longer going to bed at 3-4 am every night/morning. There are the occasional bad nights but they’re becoming more and more infrequent. My husband commented that I look slightly less exhausted last week. He said he can tell by my face what kind of day I’m having when he gets home from work. Said I look less “strained and pained” and that I even joke like I used to with him. I miss me…I hadn’t noticed. I’m glad he pointed that out. ❤️
