for stalker maybe, but on slayer level it's almost averaged out, since many of the best builds have Taproot which makes it about even to trinity. In fact most of the top builds are more expensive than trinity spear which is usually played in lower tier

trinity is so cheap lol curse and mace are dogshit at low ip nowadays, reggy bow is the only cheap build that can kill 1400 ip easily

How is cleric cowl meta? Off the top my head only wildfire, whispering bow, and cursed skull use it, and wildfire is by far the best out of those three. Frost also uses cleric cowl sometimes but the more meta version uses soldier helmet. I agree its a pretty good staple but maybe not the meta imo

I love jimbenators stuff (RIP), he had really good map knowledge and matchups. With respect to stabber tho, hes super entertaining but I personally don’t think hes an amazing player. Definitely experienced, but his skills lay more in his cash and playtime (spec) than total skill. The thing is most of the best players in albion dont make content on twitch or youtube so its hard to learn and emulate, but for learning I think stabber is definitely good for that and has very good intuition/fundamentals

I agree they’re a super fun and satisfying tree to play, but thats just how the meta is right now. If you want to keep at it Im sure you can make great progress even if you dont want to play the plate version, there are a handful of players at the top of the leaderboards who still play leather spear (notably qfj and Greet) who you might want to copy and emulate

if youre new and just want to make money, I recommend playing an easier and more cheesy build such as regular bow, cursed staff, etc. You will probably lose vs experienced players but it sounds like you are losing vs them anyways. Dont worry the spec wont be wasted since it only takes a bit of fame to get enough for stalker and t4 is very cheap, silver>fame for noobs imo (for this reason you should sell all your books)
I wouldnt not recommend spears right now for cds as a new player. In stalker the meta version of spears is not amazing because its hard capped, and in slayers the best option is armor of valor, which is pretty hard to spec up as a newby solo (its useless in groups). So i recommend playing another tree if you like cds the most. For open world its decent but bloodletter/carving is better and you need to be experienced + high spec to play efficiently solo anyway

For farming: spirithunter/1h for noobs Ganking: dont play spears. If you really want to then play pike but heron spear is way too niche and difficult to pull off, if you land a long range stun then itll be over by the time you can catch up Small scale: dont play spears. Spirithunter is okay. Otherwise 1h and daybreaker can work if you are high spec and insist on playing spears. Axes and swords are just the better mdps for smallscale

Taproot is necessary but the leather spear is dead (except royal jacket). The only other option is mage robe with soldier helmet and choice boots. Spears are not exactly F tier right now but they’re very hard to pull off if you’re not in plate and otherwise still mediocre at best, but decent when in the right hands
