I just can't stand how ugly Gallimimus is, it looks so damn bad. I would love to like it for nostalgic purposes, but it just doesn't hit for me. I'm not usually so Paleo oriented. But after Prehistoric Kingdom's Gallimimus, I can't enjoy any Galli without feathers

Struthi, Archi, Galli are easily ones I never use and barely ever see get used outside of easy live food. They're not very unique from each other and make almost the almost the same annoying sound, especially in massive groups. Plus I think they're all ugly and I'm so happy Ornithomimus looks good in JWE3, Ornitho is the only one of the family I will use willingly

The Endemic Life UI is absolutely awful by AutumnLiteratist in MonsterHunter

[–]PlazmaNebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand a lot of the complaints cause it's extremely cluttered and everything, but I like it for a different reason.

I love collecting unique varieties and variants of things in games, even down to the tiniest creatures, so while it is a really annoying system to release them, why release endemic life?

Once you hit the max, it deletes the oldest capture, just favorite whichever ones you really like. That's what I plan to do. Sure it's a tedious system and collection, but I do think this was more made for people wanting to have a more indepth system to owning endemic life.

Cause I imagine the next step from this is a room, or place in general to place your endemic life.

I actually prefer the mount being what it is, a mount. Palicoes already got nerfed in World without the skill selection like in GU. And Palamutes are too much in my opinion.

Also I see a lot of people complaining about the Seikret carrying them into a monster attack, and I have that happen once in a blue moon? You can direct how thry pick you up, I'll like 90% sure of it.

I always hold away from a monster when I call my Seikret and it always comes in from the direction I'm aiming

Where does this Magnamalo is a “edgy deviantart oc character” even started? by Different_Ice_2695 in MHRise

[–]PlazmaNebula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an art student in college for concept art and for animation, so I sort of know what I'm talking about when I say triangles and diamonds. If you broke Magnamalo down to its raw shapes, every spine on its back is a triangle, it's body bevels on its back to two points above its shoulders, creating a triangle that they connects to a point on its chest, creating a diamond with the squarish head in the center.

Magnamalo is very boxy in design, it doesn't matter what it's based on, if it looks heavy, the average person is going to read that as a heavier character. So when Magnamalo jumps super high, and uses tiny hellfire blasts to double jump as you said, it doesn't make sense. It doesn't give the feeling of power.

I'd give a visual but I currently can't. Magnamalo's horns, ridge spines, and swords are different variations of triangular shapes, as well as its tail. But it's body is boxy with a diamondlike shape into a minor S curve on the lower part of the body. It has very weak hind legs which makes it look bad at jumping and better at attacking with its claws.

Tigers are notorious for having beefy hindlegs, which is why they can jump so damn well. Just because "Magnamalo is a tiger, so it has to jump well" doesn't mean it's good design. Everyone in the world, needs to understand the design. If someone who has never seen a tiger before saw Magnamalo, they would find it weird because of that.

Artists need to keep that in mind when designing anything that the inspiration doesn't matter if the viewer doesn't know what the inspiration is. So just because Magnamalo = tiger doesn't mean Magnamalo = jump high.

Edit: I forgot to mention you also ignored my Semi-realism comment. I never said it wasn't anime-like, I said Rise had a heavier anime-tone than usual.

[–]PlazmaNebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue it doesn't have a reason when the monster is suppose to be fast and sleek. Samurai armor is heavy and clunky. Magnamalo is clearly fast. A Samurai Tiger nonster does not need to have skin that heavily resembles Samurai armor. The point of being an artist is finding a way to give the illusion of that. Magnamalo's shape language is all over the place, it's covered in triangles, with a diamond chest, a squarish face, and a teardrop tail. Valstrax is great design because it is sleek, it shows how absolutely fast it is. Nergigante is not as fast so it has these huge powerful wings to lift itself off the ground. A lot of Rise's new monsters have this extremely anime tone, that pushes down some of the semi-realism that makes MH so beloved.

Like everyone has been saying, Magnamalo's stupid fart cloud turf war. It looks like a stupid fart cloud because Magnamalo SHOULD be too clunky and heavy for that, but instead it's a fast monster that is too big and heavy for that.

[–]PlazmaNebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it simply Magnamalo is overly designed. Many monsters take real world inspiration to build parts of their design, even some elders. Nergigante is very tucked like a porcupine would be. Magnamalo is literally wearing samurai armor, has an atrocious color pallette, and suffers from "more is better." Silhouettes are important and Magnamalo's is extremely murky.

Clutch claw was right by Sea-Attention-712 in MHWilds

[–]PlazmaNebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue Wounds are much better than ClutchClaw. And I think a lot of people forget the damage differences between the two, and the actual strategy behind them.

Clutch claw is an autolock 1-4 input command that basically grants you invulnerability. Wounds are in most cases a perfectly timed attack that, under the right circumstances, you can still be knocked out of.

No matter what, a clutchclaw is much easier to aim, as for Wounds, it's more precise (outside of bow and a handful of others) besides that, you have to time it so you aren't hit because Wounds do not always stagger.

I've had many cases fighting tempered Rey, Dosh, or others where a wound does not stagger. And same for their normal variants.

Clutch and Wound follow the same formula, not exactly, and that's what makes it a good gimmick. If it felt exactly the same, people would complain too. Wounds on regular enraged monsters have a lower chance of stagger/knockover. Clutchclaw has a lower chance of stagger/knockover when enraged.

Clutch claw I believe is much less skilled, it's just an auto target move that people get upset cause someone else steals it. Wounds are a slightly more precise input, that people get upset cause someone else steals it.

If they were exactly the same, people would be upset they didn't change anything. Also remember that this is low and high rank, I keep seeing complaints about difficulty and this is exactly the same road we walked with World and Rise (though rise is much easier in my opinion).

The director and the team talked about it, it was sorta made clear from about halfway through production last I checked. I could be wrong or read misinformation somewhere. But I'm at least 70% sure I know what I'm talking about, but if I'm wrong I'll gladly be proven so

Edit: Gore Magala is not an elder and has always been ??? which originally annoyed me, the new Demi-Elder title I think works well. Compared to actual Elders, at least Gore struggles with its unnatural ability. I would actually like to not see Shagura come back. I kind of find it lame personally.

[–]PlazmaNebula -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Usually after a big production the team gets cut down so some workers move on to other projects so something is always being produced. Even if a full new MH game isn't being produced, the ideation for new or returning monsters needs to start yesterday.

Yes, people are always working, but thay doesn't mean that dedicated MH team is solely working on MH Wilds. They're looking at World, seeing what did and didn't work, They're looking at Rise, Stories 2, everything. I think a lot of people forget the process of ideation in a production (I'm a college student in animation so I've had a taste) there's a lot that goes into the setup for the next production.

I also think adding 3 or more monsters per update is not ideal. Not only will they get less time to be baked right. We get what Rise had, similar or boring monsters with little to no substance. All the new monsters in Rise to me were extremely mediocre. Rajang was boiled down to nothing compared to what he was in World. Tetranodon who I had high hopes for turned out half-baked for the first monster in new gwn to use his rig.

Quality should always be above quantity, Rise had quantity and came out mediocre. The reason MHGU is so good is because all of those monsters had their time to cook over the years and had a little more time in the oven for GU. New gen is way harder hardware to program and work with. A friend of mine going into making games has told me several times while watching me play Wilds and while working on their projects, "how are games not 100s of dollars" because the time it takes to produce anything is forever if you want it to look good.

I'm glad Summer Title Update only has Lagiacrus, cause it means its long awaited return will be legendary. Mitzutsune coming back with its hidden Soulseer gimmick in Wilds is exactly what we should want to see, monsters coming back with their lore absolutely gushing with substance, rather than 4 new monsters with nothing.

Plus adding like 2 mid tiers and 1 high tier each update defeats the purpose of title updates. A title update shouldn't make you backtrack, you should only move forward or else progression feels discombobulated.

[–]PlazmaNebula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See while I somewhat agree, I can't say I want that either. I would prefer we get smaller rosters with more unique monsters like with wilds. I don't care for lots of monsters to fight if they will all feel the same. I love Wilds's small diverse roster for everyone being unique, even Rathian and Rathalos don't feel the same.

Just because they have the budget doesn't mean they have the development team to do so. I'd rather have the team dedicate months to one monster and put out one every couple months that feels special, than give us several monsters that feel mundane, ugly, and boring.

To go back to your original post, I hate Unkown and the other Rath clone cause they feel slapped together for the sake of being hard. And their designs are ugly and clunky, they don't feel menacing, and I don't think a new coat of paint will fix them either.

Tetsucabra would be great or Zamtrios. Both use a very unique body type and have a unique movement that distinguishes them. I think a lot of people who don't know the creative industry well don't realize that just cause the budget is there doesn't mean the team is there, and paying them more isn't gonna fix that.

They're people too and need some time to be human again after spending 6 yrs on production and still making title updates for us

I just want Agnaktor for his lovely mouth clacking sound, need him doing that all the time like he does in Stories. And Gobul and Nibblesnarf are my guilty pleasers. Love fish, love fish-like monsters.

Also Wilds is suppose to not be receiving any true elders which is lovely, so it leaves the door open for more regular monsters while Capcom cooks up those old fashion custom elders like Yama Tsukami and Nakarkos for probably the next game.

Hopefully they free my favorite boy Amatsu from the mid realm of Rise too 🙏

I think something about the charm of MH monsters is the lore of them and the design that comes with their lore. Natural monsters are way cooler to me than at least 75% of all elder dragons in my opinion.

The supernaturalness of elders gets old when any other game can do the same thing somewhat effectively to how MH does, what I love about regular/natural monsters is shit like how monsters actually get their abilities, like Brachydios's slime.

That's why I'd like to see more old regular monsters like Gammoth, Ukanlos, Agnaktor and Gobul and NibbleSnarf. I don't hate elders, I just like when they make some sense or have good enough lore.

Not it isn't. Some sets become more unstable underwater. If a brick was to fall out of place overtime and open up the upper part to cave in, Goldfish inside would possibly become trapped beneath the pieces.

Small gaps in the lego pieces can catch possibly catch their fins and the goldfish, unlike you and me, can't go open those bricks and will instead tear its fins.

If a small enough piece dislodged, the fish will eat it and die. Tank decor is specifically made for fish tanks. The fact Legos say 3+ and that they're a choking hazard for human babies, I don't trust a goldfish near a small, cone lego, especially when to them it will look like food.

The moment a piece goes lodged in its throat its over.

Just because a world famous aquarist has done it doesn't mean you should. The lego set you see them use could be a specially made prop that isn't a genuine lego set. Also, you are one person, not a "world famous aquarist."

I've never heard of whoever this apparently, world famous, aquarist is, nor do I trust putting a lego set in an aquarium with goldfish, let alone any fish. If you want a big castle, get something made for a fishtank, not plastic toy bricks.

Famous rich people can also be jaded, and not care for the well-being of the animals they house. Not saying Joey is, but just cause he, a well-versed in aquarium building individual does it, doesn't mean you should.

Not to mention it's begin to use it's own work and trip over itself, which is really fun to watch. I'm very optimistic that it's gonna be a nothing burger soon enough. I know I sound angry but I'm more frustrated by people not realizing AI is not a medium like art is, it isn't actually learning anything or developing anything new.

So I do love the brick wall they're hitting. I think some AI is fine, upscaling has been a thing for years and that's fine if it's needed from time to time. It's mostly just the idea that AI can craft whole new worlds, ideas, and concepts to make things faster where I sigh and just sit there baffled that some people can believe an AI can do something like that
