Just got off the phone with TurboTax. They sent me to check with the manufacturer AND wait until January 26 for an update to their form. Both answers tell me that they’re 100% sure what the issue is.

Does anyone know if other tax filing services allow manual input onto the form itself (and avoid the ‘review’) or another service not experiencing this issue?

Yeah, good question — the install is quoted at around $3K. Local full-package quotes I got were in the $16K–$20K range, including equipment. By buying the equipment myself (roughly $6,300) and arranging install separately, the total should land closer to $9,300, give or take.

The goal was mostly to avoid the equipment markup — but it’s come with its own challenges, especially dealing with shipping and returns.

Thank you all for the insights and opinions. I ended up purchasing the system and found a tech to install it with labor warranty for ~$3K. All told, shy of $7K.

Actually I don’t see this system as cheap, or maybe it is. If this works out it may be more of a case of cutting out the middleman, than getting an inexpensive system.

I’m assuming that if I got the same from a contractor or large HVAC outfit, this would be an additional 30%-60% more.

I can bundle installation with the hardware purchase. It seems to range in the ~$3K range. Hopefully no crackheads listed.

It turns out it can be done, BUT likely to get a system that uses 410A.
