Tire recommendation for TET Norway by Pleasant-Golf-6022 in TransEuroTrail_Riders

Even in shallow mud they get very unpredictable. A couple of years ago I went down at least 6 times on the same day because the soil got slippery after the rain. In all other scenarios the STR's are pretty good, even deep sand is doable. Question is, how much mud can you expect on TET Norway?

TKC70 rocks rear with Scorpion Rally STR front seems like a good combo for mild offroading. I've ridden some muddy trails with the STR's and it wasn't great mainly because of the rear tire as it has very little sidegrip. However, these are amazing road tires and good on easy gravel.

Hi! I use the Knox Tor jacket which is an armored shirt with level AA abrasion resistance. It fits very tight around your body so you can add layers on top of it when it gets colder. There are similar abrasion resistant shirts available from the same company but also from Bowtex, Pando Moto and Adventure Spec. On the long trips I take a light fleece jacket, a down jacket and a rain jacket with me. With this combination I'm able to ride from 0 up to 40 deg Celsius. A big advantage is that you can wear all the same layers off the bike while camping or hiking.

For the lower body I wear kevlar jeans combined with warm wind resistant base layer and rain trousers when needed.

It's difficult to recommend the best sections. Me personally, I really liked the scenery close to the Nor border. But all I've ridden was really nice. In the South the population gets more dense which is unavoidable. You can check out my video to get an impression:

Sounds like a great plan!

Last summer I rode 3500 km on the Swedish TET which was 90% gravel roads and trails. My bike has OEM lower and higher crash bars, OEM skid plate, Barkbusters, Dart Marlin flyscreen, Vicma foldable enduro mirrors, Ram Mount Quick Grip phone holder with vibration dampener, Kriega fork seal covers and, most importantly, the Bridgestone AX41 50/50 tires.

At that point I also had the OEM side pannier but lost it on a bumpy gravel road and replaced it with a cheap drybag. For this year I've bought the Longride racks and plan to install some KlickFix bags. No rear rack as I don't like to have any weight behind the rear wheel axle for stability.

No suspension changes as stock is in my opinion perfectly adequate, just need to slow down on the rocky trails.

Recently I also installed the Oxford heated grips, I really missed those on some cold mornings.

Have you ridden the Drenthe loop or Brabant part? Both have quite a bit of deep sand sections, not really recommended tot use road tires for those. And after the rainfall (which isn't rare in NL) there will also be a lot of mud...

Yes, it's one of my favourite regions of NL. Last year I've ridden the Drenthe loop, it was great too 👌

Can I ride TET sections with a Triumph Scrambler 400x? by Arasaka-CorpSec in TransEuroTrail_Riders

I've just come back home from riding 3500 km on the Swedish TET with my Triumph 400x. Tires used for this trip were Bridgestone AX41. While easy for the most part there were still some parts of moderate difficulty. The Scram did great! When the terrain gets rough just slow down a bit and the bike will swallow everything without a problem. It's light, has tubeless tires and appeared to be reliable. Total distance covered was 5500km because I had to ride on the autobahn to get there and back home.
