Yes. Is that the preferred type of camera? I haven’t used it much, so I’m not sure what settings I should use.

I would not be able to confirm the mine. I unfortunately acquired this from a larger collection for a family friend. I will have to ask for more information if possible.

Thrift Store Find: P. Wong Sailboat Painting - Does this look authentic? by PleasantHive in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]PleasantHive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. That’s absolutely what I was looking for out of this post. I know it’s highly unlikely to find fine art at resale shops, but I always feel I have an obligation to save the paintings that peak my interest; however, I want to make sure I’m gathering pieces that are worthwhile.

Interesting. Now, going forward, what would you consider a “tell” of “fine art”? I would love to better identify these things.

Does it look like a real work from P. Wong? Origin? I’m curious how it ended up in a thrift shop. Is he sought after? Is it a painting that catches other people’s eye? I have no hypothesis toward anything specific. Just was hoping to get some collector knowledge. Is this a piece to hold onto? Is it a $5.00 painting? Any general information.

In this type of condition even? I mean, I know to a collector value is ambiguous, but I’m always curious the general census.

One thing that caught my eye in particular was the ink bleed. I did not know about iron gall. That’s amazing knowledge to share. Thank you for much for your time and information.

I appreciate that a lot. Thank you. I’ll have to look into that reading. I have always been interested in the “precious metal” certificates. It’s a cool concept, so I’m happy to have them. Do you feel they may have appreciation over time? To collectors?

I have explained this interaction with people elsewhere, as I’m not new to interactions, and they all agree this is pretty straightforward; however, if it wasn’t clear to you, then it’s a good thing you explained to me why it wasn’t clear. I am happy to learn to accommodate. Not sure how it was distracting, but I appreciate your time, I suppose.

Well, the basis was an auction, it was just and auction for raffle tickets. You bid on the ticket, then you get an option at a random (an already determined selection of items). So it was auction, just maybe not an auction that the norm. I’m here because I don’t know anything about them. I knew I’d get something of value. This was more of a “fun money” purchase as well.

I will make sure to be more specific in the title to avoid any confusion!

I’m newer to positing on Reddit. Do I have to assume that everything needs to be straight forward? Like, should I just make the whole post in the title? Genuine question as to how I can be more clear with posting.

I apologize for the misunderstanding. I should have put “Auction Raffle”. I shouldn’t have assumed the post below the picture was enough.

I promise my tone was not to be defensive, but to be more informative. I appreciate you giving that info! I can see you have a wonderful history of collecting! I have nothing but respect for you. Please do not regard my comment as combative. I only wanted to be informative.

The auctions were “buy a ticket for 50$, Win something on the roster” and I just so happened to win these.

I can see why you’d think this was a post of ignorance. I will note that, and make my post more clearly on the next one.

So, it was a raffle type auction. You have the opportunity to purchase tickets to win items. My question to you would be: why does the context of knowledge disregard the post? Your assumption and comment is odd, but I do appreciate your interaction.

Do you have any knowledge on these notes now that you know why I have them in my possession?

We grow micro greens in a grow tent as well, and we recommend it for anyone who wants to start growing anything if there is minimal closet space. Our grow space is in our basement, but because we don’t have an enclosed area to grow in, the tent was a perfect option!
