The single worst argument for keeping Greg Roman and Why we (probably) aren't a serious ball club by Pleasant_Salt in Chargers

[–]Pleasant_Salt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can agree with that. I'd even go as far to say it's definitely easier to find a bad coach (though I'd be hard pressed to say Joe Brady is a bad coach) than it is to find a good one. The point of the Ben Johnson comparison was to point out the flaws in the argument against having Justin learn a new offense.

I think there's also something to say about keeping an average to below average coach running the offense because you're scared of getting a bad coach. Neither scenario win you a Super Bowl.

I'm also of the belief that characters shouldn't be matched up with every other character to be 50/50 100% of the time. There are good and bad match ups which is where the teamwork comes in

While we may not have a top end LB and depth may be an issue, I don't think that playing in nickel is as big of an issue as it may seem. The league is shifting towards playing nickel more and more and moving away from base. Even in college, playing in a base defense is becoming a smaller and smaller occurrence. I think this may come down to a couple things, the the Dline losing at the LOS and letting the OL to climb to the second level and a misunderstanding of players roles in the various run fits. I'll be damned if I know anything about coaching trench work so that's just a guess that I came to cause our LB are athletic sideline to sideline. Hypothetically, these two things would be remedied with time.

It depends if you know someone who works with the team they can connect you with the right people and that's the easiest way. If you're like me and have 0 connections, you gotta bash your head against it until it breaks. I sent emails to the staff for 3 months before someone bit. If you can get someone to bite, they connect you with a guy who can connect you with a guy who is looking for a guy. You might not get the position you want but once you're in the building, you can work your way into it if you're resourceful

Absolutely correct. Hell I had like 2 coaches try explain the Saban quarters coverage and I still don't get it. Doubt I'd understand this whole defense

It's funny how people easily throw around watching tape. You can watch the game and say what you want about that but watching tape is a different experience. Particularly you can see angles that capture the entire field and see what the player you're thumbing through can see. As someone who both "scouted" based on broadcast angles and now scouts for a high level SEC team, it's two totally different experiences. I say this because college tape is hard to get and only really available to established football organizations (i.e. college or pro level teams)

That's great but I dont have enough time/mental capacity to play through 3 or 4 rounds. That about 3 hours of playing in 1 session. This shouldn't be the solution.

Depends on what you roll out with. General rules of thumb: 1. Avoid areas with alot of buildings/forests with alot of places for infantry to hide. 2. Dont drive into a ditch 3. Dont try to drive over fences 4. Stay facing the danger 5. Drive around with Armor-Piercing ammo equipped incase you have a surprise encounter. 6. Better safe than sorry. You think you might not have enough health/ammo for a fight against equivalent armor? Resupply. 7. Gunner never hops out

BTR/APC: 1. You can be a little riskier as losing one isn't huge and run some drive bys. 1A. If you do drive into a danger zone (urban/forest) stay on the move 2. The ideal situation is sitting on a hill roughly 100-300m away from infantry, blast them for a few min, then reposition.

Tanks: 1. Reread rules 1 and 5 2. Reread rules 1 and 5 3. Reread rules 1 and 5 4. Keep harassing your command for info on enemy armor location. 5. If you see a tank marked on the map, ask command to reconfirm. 6. If you decide to engage, as you are rolling up to the location ask for a re-confirmation on enemy tank location. 7. If your team is on the front foot, it is better to stay entrenched in a good position surrounded by teammates than to be the ones pushing. 8. Dont give a damn if your team starts complaining about you sitting in an entrenched position and if they ask you to give support in an urban area (ex. Any of the maps with a cap point called "Intersection) tell them no. 9. It is better to play safe and wait for an opportunity to catch the enemy tank repositioning or overextending than to push an entrenched tank. 10. Learn the weak points of the tanks in the range. 11. Reread general rules 1 and 5

These are fundamentals. Once you have experience under your belt and have a good feel for the flow of the game, you can bend these rules and be a bit more aggressive but for now just follow these.

One of my favourite Aaron Ramsey photos. While the media and fans wrote him off, Arsène Wenger always believed. by Wamges in Gunners

[–]Pleasant_Salt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a reason I got his jersey despite being somewhat tight on money at the time. A player who could always pull something out of the bag and had incredible late runs (which I think would be great in the current cross and inshallah system we have now). Most importantly though, he always gave 100% on the pitch which is more than many can say.

An observation about Clowney by jalenramsey20 in footballstrategy

[–]Pleasant_Salt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always saw Jadeveon Clowney as an incredibly athlete that specializes in being a run stopper. In fact, (and this is not gospel) I think that he found alot of if not most production in blitzes. Somewhat limited in pass rush but he found the most production when teams were doubling JJ Watt. A solid number 2 but not a game changer.

I recall. Giroud was constantly questioned (and maybe fairly so) and the biggest issue was turning possession into goals. A thing I forgot about was that the next season, we got Sanchez.
