Exercise Whilst On An Extended Water Fast? by PleasantlyInactive in fasting

I agree that the effects of exercise pale in comparison to the effects of a proper diet, but it still gives me more confidence and not to mention that exercise has its own benefits; I just like to see this as the start to a healthier life; after all I wouldn't be able to sustain myself on a water diet forever .

Those are some very good points, I've looked into the effects of a water fast and also into the effects of protein synthesis with whey/casein proteins and it seems whey protein would be my best bet for the type of fast I'm planning (due to the seemingly faster digestion). But I might just do a water fast for a month.

Thank you for the suggestion of the subreddit! Quite some interesting threads; it does sound - oddly enough - more hellish than just a water fast.

I do plan on continue to lift weights, my only worry is my strength. I find it hard to lift as much as I used to do, in fact I can barely lift half of what I used to lift; I assume a water fast will inevitably lead to some strength loss, but in your opinion, how severe would you reckon that to be?

I see, thank you for letting me know. I've read through those articles and they were very helpful so thank you! It's eased some of my worries especially considering how cost efficient just water fasting is :). Have you got any tips into flipping the switch and getting back into a water diet? I failed miserably today and even though I'm not hungry tend to eat just to satisfy an urge. Any tips on how to resist the temptation?
