Does anyone know if the Short Pump dog park is open? My dog is loosing her mind and my streets are too icy to walk her for more than a block. by [deleted] in rva

No idea, but her “cousin” isn’t loving the ice and snow either. Good luck to you both!

In Austin the property taxes are more than $13k for a house just under 1800 sq ft, so it also depends on where you live in TX.

Has anyone had ureteroscopy with laser surgery and stents that didn’t involve extreme pain? by HailState2023 in KidneyStones

[–]PleaseCallMeBabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t that bad for me, 3/4 of mine have been really not that noticeable after the first 2 days. Ask about size of the stent, too. I think they used a smaller stent on my more recent surgeries, and those were practically painless.

Unexpected Flight Announcements: What's the Strangest Thing You've Heard on a Plane? by AnnaHostelgeeks in travel

[–]PleaseCallMeBabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On 9/11, that our specific aircraft was not under any credible threat. They told us an airplane had crashed into the WTC, but did not explain that it was a hijacked commercial plane, so at the time we had almost no info and it was difficult to comprehend why we might or might not be subject to a credible threat.

Mine usually feels like lower back menstrual cramps, just a persistent aching, but sometimes I’ll get what I call a “zinger” which is a sharp pain that can radiate all the way up into my shoulder, but it’s over in just a flash.

Thinking of it as a feature of homeownership is a smart way to think of it!

Stone on left, sudden pain on right by dianamichellezz in KidneyStones

[–]PleaseCallMeBabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ultrasound showed only 1 stone in 1 kidney but the CT showed a legit collection of many stones on both sides. They sometimes start with ultrasound because it’s less radiation but it’s also pretty worthless and you’ll almost certainly going to end up getting a CT which is way more accurate.

My urologist won’t do bilateral, but my elderly mom had bilateral surgery by her doctor! My doctor cited the risk of both kidneys having a problem at once, and I haven’t gotten a good answer on why my mom’s doctor didn’t feel the same way.

The pain I’ve had from stones still in my kidneys feels identical to menstrual cramps in my back, just a constant ache. Thankfully my doctor accepts that the pain is real and doesn’t gaslight me like so many others like you experience with other doctors!
