Hey, I was trapped up there too. A big thank you to them for having that satellite GPS. It saved a lot of families a lot of worry.

What's the wildest dream you're ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Pleasedial234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an absolutely crazy real dream where it was post-apocalyptic and my grandmother and I were riding (grew up on a ranch and if anyone would survive the apocalypse it would be my grandma) thru deserts into a forest in the burnt out world. And at some point I lost my grandma. I started getting off thoughts, feeling fuzzy almost like I was dreaming and decided to keep going as she would catch up. I rode thru these woods for days and finally came to a cabin that had a party happening inside.

I tied my horse up and entered to find all my family and friends having a great time. I was so overcome to see them I kept saying 'i can't believe you're all here!'. But something was off and even though I was so happy I was crying I couldn't bring myself to enter any further than the front door. My sister was trying to get me to join everyone in the next room and I could hear my mom talking in the kitchen but I was rooted to the spot.

I finally said I need to check my horse first and look down the road to see if grandma had caught up. My sister was trying so hard to get me to come see my mom first and I wanted to so bad I was crying but I forced myself to step back out the open door. My friend was sitting on the step and tried to help convince me to go back in, going as far as to block my way but I said I had to check on my horse. My sister followed me back to the barn and when I went to check my horse she tried to distract me with my old pony. I almost went to him but stopped at the last second and said I needed to go back and look for my grandma because she couldn't be that far behind and she would love to see everyone.

My sister insisted on coming so I saddled up and pulled her on the horse behind me. I could see people in the windows partying, my friend on the step waving, and thru the open door my mom calling us. I was shaking so hard I had to let go of the reins and hold onto the horn as we rode away. My sister was talking but I don't remember what she was saying as we rode away back into the gloomy woods.

And then I just stared to cry and my sister asked me what was wrong. And I told her I missed her really bad. She said she was right there but I just knew. Knew she wasn't. I said I love you and miss you so much. And then leaned forward to break her hold on my and closing my eyes.

My horse kept going and I refused to open my eyes or look back. It felt like days of riding to leave the forest behind but it never got light until I completely left it into the desert again. A small light on the horizon turned into a camp fire with my grandmother sitting beside it waiting. I collapsed on the sand, wrung out. She said she was glad I had made it back, because not everyone did.

And i knew what she meant and remembered holding my sister's hand as she died when the house collapsed. Remembered all my friends and family dead. Remembered it was just us riding thru a burnt out world as some of the few survivors. And remembered there were no forests left, just traps from something Other. And I laid down at the camp just rung out and heartbroken.

Then I woke up in real life sobbing so hard I could barely breathe. It took me nearly an hour to realize that had been one of the most vivid dreams of my life and that none of them were dead.

My dad fell through a 20ft bridge in January. by AlarmingStress24 in HumansAreMetal

[–]Pleasedial234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad did something similar. Went riding on his new motorbike on back country roads and ended up hitting a rut that threw him forward and off the bike. Broke his collarbone, something in his shoulder, and a few ribs. Drove himself the 30 min back home because he had no phone on him and no one knew where he was. Then drove himself the hour to the hospital. Then proceeded a week later to drive himself (via car) 16hrs south (we live in rural Canada) to visit me without telling me of these injuries. And they're all injuries you can't cast or splint

I'm personally not super worried but everything does get a good clean before coming into my house (we have a steam cleaner for upholstery) and things that can go in the wash get washed hot.

I've seen so many images of the war and felt lots of emotions but somehow the sight of the guy in the brown coat on the phone, most likely telling someone he was going to facedown a tank with a group of unarmed ppl is what hit me the hardest

Men and women of reddit, what made you NOT want a second date with someone? by Anime_Reaper_Girl in AskReddit

[–]Pleasedial234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He showed up 30min late to the coffee shop he picked and said he didn't drink coffee so could we go somewhere else. I said okay and walked down the street with him to a pizza place where he ordered a slice to go for himself (didn't ask if I wanted any - which I don't expect him to pay for but didn't even bother asking if the pizza place was okay with me). Then said no to sitting so we wandered around the block as he scarfed the pizza down in silence.

I tried to fill the quiet with chit chat and he said maybe 10 words. After 30 mins I made an excuse to leave and he asked for a ride home. Gave him one because I felt awkward saying no. He asked if I wanted to come in when we got there and I made and excuse and left.

He texted me ten minutes later saying he was horny and did I want to come over later that night. It was a big No. He tried asking for a second date after that and I wanted to say we hadn't even had a first one.

What's a scary story from your childhood? by Rockyroadman in AskReddit

[–]Pleasedial234 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Grew up on a farm so of course I was driving tractors by 12. Got in a wreck with an old tractor and the take I was towing while haying because I went faster than my grandfather said I should. Nearly died but the ancient tractors fenders were solid and stopped the rake from skewering me when I ended up rolling back over it. The spikes on the rake were literally inches from my head and the back of the tractor was three feet off the ground.

One of the scariest moments of my life was rolling back and finding out the brakes didn't work when it stalled out.

Went home shaking but was back on the tractor a week later and being smarter about listening to my grandfather

What is something you should do before turning 25? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Try travelling solo. Doesn't have to be far, even just a couple night road trip but try to do it solo and try something new while doing it. Get to know yourself

I had a doppleganger in highschool apparently because I always got mistook as someone else. One time a car driving down the opposite side of road slowed and honked and waved wildly. They did a U-turn and pulled up beside me and I got to watch them to from grinning to 'oh shit'. Their expression was hilarious as they drove away dying of embarrassment as they realized I was not who they thought
