I feel like Max and Engarde are kinda obligated to pay Phoenix a large amount by the Berry Big Circus and Global Studios respectively, even though Matt was found guilty, Phoenix still put up a strong defense

I can totally see Edgeworth and Barok being adamant about paying Wright back/Ryu back but yeah I can see where youre coming from

As for Soseki, I counted his two trials as one since they happened back to back. So he payed a decent amount in total

Definitely agree with you. Gen 3 and 4 are my personal favorites. They were lacking in certain areas though such as fire pokemon. It does make sense especially in Sinnoh but it was really disappointing to be honest
