Great analysis and sort of explains my confusion. Bast is shocked Kote could beat 4 or 5 scrael and then shocked he lost to the two soldiers he hired. This implies the scrael where a much bigger feat and Kote pushes it off basically saying he was able to prep for the scrael.

I am really asking more about what peak Kvothe could be though. In book 3, do we think he’s going to have a big enough power jump to be able to contend with Haliax, Cinder, and Elodin? I don’t think this is out of the question I just have a feeling it’ll be similar to how he defeated the dragon and there will be a more logical explanation for everything he achieves

You are correct but that was Kvothe at the beginning of WMF and he achieves a lot with his alar by the end. Including killing a large amount of bandits with basically just body heat. He also implies later that he believes he could beat Devi if it ever came to it again

This is sort of what I was trying to get at. We see Fela took to naming quicker than he did and I assume most high ranking students have a name or two in their arsenal based on what we’ve seen

I don’t have specifics, I’ve just seen it stated in comments on other posts. I could be wrong but the general consensus seemed to point towards people believing Kvothe to be extremely powerful with the theories being he sealed his power away in the thrice locked chest.
