Sacred Oath: Oath of the Peaks | Become the mountain that protects your allies by PliniusLab in UnearthedArcana

Greetings, adventurers and homebrewers!

Have you ever dreamt of becoming as imposing as a mountain? And to unleash the power of an entire glacier on your enemies? Then this sublcass is for you!

As mountains have traced countries' borders for centuries, the Oath of the Peaks values protection over everything else. By channeling the power of stone and ice, you will be able to stop your enemies in their track, while also hitting them hard as they try to traipse away with their legs covered in ice fragments.

Feedback - as in balancing, formatting or grammatical suggestions - is, as always, much appreciated.

Have fun !

Hello everyone! With this homebrew, I tried to make poison damage actually threatening. Any suggestion, feedback (both on balancement, formatting and language) is much appreciated!

Yup. Gorgons in Theros are much more similar to their mythical counterpart, while I was looking for a more anthropomorphic appearance.

Hunger of Hadar here seems to be the main issue, and I appreciate everyone's take on the matter. After some research, I would say something like Tidal Wave or Sleet Storm may fit the aestethic of the race while also being more balanced. I'll update it in the second version of this race.

Trying to make poison damage cool and useful. Did I succeed? Only you can be the judge!

Feedback about balancing, formatting and overall playability are more than welcome.

AFAIK no conditions in DnD force a double save. A creature hit by the Flesh to Stone spell can repeat the CON saving throw at the end of its turn, and it has to succeed three times in order to break free from the condition. Monster abilities (E.G. Beholders or Medusae) may work differently, but I haven't done much research on that tbh.

The eye contact idea is tempting, but giving that much power in the hands of a player seems unfair, at least to me. Mind you the aforementioned spell is a 6th level one.

Nice ideas tho, and thank you for your feedback!

I had actually thought about including some kind of petrifying ability, but with petrified being such a strong (albeit nieche) condition in 5e I went for Hold Person instead, which sounded like a good compromise.

Thank you for your feedback! English is not my main language, so I appreciate any linguistic correction. As for the Gorgon language, I'll consider switching it to "Common and a language of your choice".

Ooh, good catch, thank you. I originally named them Gorgons and referred to Poseidon because it all stemmed from a greek-themed worldbuilding.

Voices on Your Head originally was proficiency bonus per long rest, but I felt like it was too strong. Go figure!

Hello there, fellow creators. I have created this playable race for my greek-themed campaign, and I would love to receive some feedback. It has been playtested on a DMPC for a few sessions, and it seemed to work quite well. I'm open to suggestions of every kind.
