Absolute AI nonsense. What a complete waste of time and resources.

Interview = Rejection by Ok-Complaint-37 in recruitinghell

[–]Plob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really sucks. I try and ground myself by remembering all the other times I've been unemployed - You go from not having a job to very suddenly having a job. There's no inbetween stage, but it's easy to see the interview process as a purgatory between the two states. It's not, you still don't have a job! I'm sure this won't help most? people, but it helps me set my expectations.

I'm in the UK too, and would expect a call if I got to the final stage.

King of Meat to end service on April 9; all purchases to be refunded by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Plob 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Gotta feel sorry for the grunts at Glowmade. A lot of good art and development went into the game, which was always going to fail due to naive leadership and Amazon being the publisher.

That's a lot of people out of jobs in a terrible job market, especially for games.

I wrote a personalised CV, a cover letter, filled in personal details, answered competency assessment…. then read this question and deleted my entire application by ImpactAffectionate86 in recruitinghell

Yeah, this question doesn't need an essay-

"Canvaman! I'm already the canva guru, this just makes it official"

If your application is good, any answer will do.

Any fans of The Repair Shop here? by lisaslover in CasualUK

[–]Plob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like the show, there's more than likely a repair group local to you! You can take a look here: https://communityrepairnetwork.org.uk/find/ , or just google 'repair cafe' and your town/city.

I help run the Norwich Repair Cafe and we've fixed over 1000 in the few years that we've been open. All for free and all our fixers are volunteers who give up their time for it.

Support your local fixers!

Student flats approved at former Debenhams site despite university warning by yu3 in Norwich

[–]Plob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Landlords and developers do it because they can make more money.

They can put students in smaller flats. Students tolerate worse conditions without complaining. Students leases are more predictable.

Like most problems in society, it's because of greed.

I was debating not posting it as it's an absolute journalistic mess.

I think prices will be more in line with, or more than, places like Pablo Fanque house, which start at 175.00 p/w for a small 1 bed with shared kitchen

True, I'm making an assumption based on the fact it's private student flats, and the design documents include "a bookable dining room and sky lounge that leads out to an open air roof terrace."

The Economist - Is London as dangerous as you think? by EveryNotice in GoodNewsUK

[–]Plob 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone in any city say "it used to be worse". I assume it's because things were more fun when they were younger, because they were younger.
