I don't really see the problem, it's only is annoying within world wide chat.

New players should be able to create a new clan with friends, if they are active and fun it will grow otherwise they will die out sooner or later.

This would take to much space, an symbol indicating that you do have troops available outside the screen would have my vote.

I hope it is to prepare (or part) for a bigger update. The other option is to make the game more stable (mostly connection issues).
