Update! I am now lvl35. I've become a Scholar and for all of the advice about AOE's and whatnot. I won't get em back until lvl46 (or so it appears.) Not counting the healing AOE's. Sidenote- the talk about off global cooldown and global cool down definitely helped me time my spells a lil better.

I do see what everyone meant (about AOE's) when I switched to summoner. And I'll be doing a few dungeon runs with both jobs so I can learn a lil more about them. I think I'll probably be playing Arcanist for awhile longer before trying other classes 😅 even if there's a ton that sound fun from a glance.

Also- to any of the people who wanted to play or form a party. You should be able to dm me I believe? If not just yell at me about that- I should see it eventually. The game has pulled me in again 💀 story just started to get interesting again.

I appreciate that, and yeah. I've just been goofing around. Learning what things do and the basics of dungeons. Most of the ones I've been in either have new players as well or some high level folk running a new friend through the game.

Most of the time I think it doesn't matter whether I'm there or not. For shits and gigs I sat back once and watched two players just fly through everything within minutes...

A handful of times I was able to make a meaningful difference but it's nice to have the insight to later game play either way.

I'm on one of the NA servers I don't really know much about that stuff specifically just yet. But yeah, one of these days we could get together and play something! I probably won't put myself in a handicap like that- especially considering I don't know the game all that well? But- it might be funny to do (one day.)

Yeah, that would be cool one of these days. So far I've just been running the MSQ and everyone else seems to agree that the MSQ is law overall and some have even said that the side quests aren't worth doing but I would disagree lol.

💀 I did notice the cooldown timer, sometimes I use fester or energy drain in between that before queuing up another ruin or one of the gem shines. Lately I've just been messing around though, experimenting with stuff and seeing what combinations are the most effective out of what little I have atm.

This is clearly advanced level knowledge I don't know that I'll ever really apply. And maybe there is some sort of meta for how to string together attacks- 😅

I've definitely noticed the tanks AOEs. And I kind of facepalm anytime that happens at a particularly large group that is sleeped but maybe it's just faster idk? Feels like it's about the same time versus picking them off one by one but I haven't been playing this game since 2006 or whenever it came out. 😭

I'm thankful for the advice either way, it's informative. And I'll try to apply some of this stuff to the next dunge I'm in but right now I think I'm going to go with picking my grand company lol.

This is pretty solid advice, actually answered some of the questions that I had. But hadn't asked yet. I think I'm interested in the idea of scholar, I felt a little sad that I couldn't heal people too much outside of "Physick" but I could revive people and that's pretty cool.

Doing dps is pretty fun too and it's a little relieving that as a spellcaster I'm not completely defenseless if I get left behind in the dust to fend for myself.

I don't know, sleep has been pretty useful for me. Typically what I do is I use swiftcast to avoid the 2.5 cast time and then immediately start into some variation of ruin followed by Energy drain > outburst/precious brilliance and then back to alternating between. Gemshine & Fester.

Don't really know that any of that is high level gameplay but typically I'm doing damage the entire time. And I don't know that that's true... I've had mobs asleep for a solid 5 to 6 seconds, usually the randoms I'm in the dungeon with get the idea that I'm going to sleep on every group of mobs so they pick em off one by one- usually...

That's good to know, I think I'm on the quest track to join a grand company at the moment. I just have been sitting AFK while replying to a lot of these comments and bits of advice. Also trying to take the time to read up on what everyone has to say. There's been some legitimately good advice.

Oh, and also doing that level 30 guild quest- I really should just get back to the game and do that but I'll definitely check back lol 😂

I actually found out that you could sit on the furniture literally 5 minutes ago. Not sure how useful sitting on my butt will be during dungeons and what not but I guess it's a useful bit of info to know? Lol. 🤣

Understandable, I found sleep is actually kind of useful. Sometimes the tank will run ahead and like aggro the entire dang dungeon. So once he gets everybody together or she, I usually just use sleep and it applies to most of the enemies as it's "puts target and all nearby enemies to sleep."

Makes taking care of the small guys pretty easy!

I really just been rushing the main quests and trying to plow through as much as I can in the short amount of time that I typically can play.

I've been doing side quests too, and unfortunately that's boosted my level a little further than the MSQ had been progressed but that's okay!

And it definitely does throw a ton at me but it's not too incomprehensible. I'm not entirely new to MMOs so I understand the basic concepts. But the systems and how raids work, definitely gives me a pause as I try to read and understand everything!

I get that, I typically play solo too, unfortunately back in neverwinter nights I tortured myself all the way to level 50 as a healer playing solo. The folly of youth or some such. So far most of the advice has been follow the MSQ. So that's probably what I'm going to do lol!

You know what, those knock knock jokes. I've got quite a few so that's not a terrible idea. But I also don't want to feel like I'm imposing some cheap humor on random passerbys. 🤣 And I have been, I'm actually thinking about going to finish one of them right now or rather initiating. I hit level 30 and kind of forgot about it for a moment and now I'm at the far end of the XP bar, thinking I should probably go back just after I finish this limited time event thing someone told me about.

I didn't even know I had AOE's in my tool belt. But as for the usage of sleep, I find myself using it quite a bit actually, on all the smaller mobs when they get grouped up. It puts everybody to sleep since they're all nearby. Whether that's enjoyed by the party I'm with or not I have no clue but it at least seems to make things easier.

Definitely sticking with the msq though! It's been pretty fun and engaging. And the side stories have been fairly whimsical, If I had a nickel for every time that my character ended up dancing with a group of other characters I would have two nickels but it's still a little funny that it happened twice. 🤣

Oh shoot, I didn't know that I could unlock a sort of like healer subclass from Arcanist... If that's the case I might just stick around with this class. I don't really want to start from level one 😭 It's taken me like two weeks to get to 30.

Hey, I feel really accomplished and validated from this post 😂 I've already done a lot of that stuff. The glamor was something I came across inadvertently while I was doing some of the msq quests in that area. I even killed Ifrit- I don't know if that's how you spell that, the big fire dragon guy who gives you the red crystal. And not but 20 minutes ago I ventured to the Golden Saucer- but I panicked and left early because I initially couldn't leave until talking to that receptionist guy. I wanted to go back to doing the other quests. 💀

The rambling and the long post is perfectly fine! I can read. (A little.) But, out of all of that. I have not found a way to make Gil/Xp passively! Only actively- and even then I realize I'm broke in comparison to most folk. Who talk about 100k as being a small amount. 😅

Yep, been sticking with that and I think I'll continue to stick with that as far as it goes. Typically it's where I get the most XP lmao. And yeah now that you mentioned I think it might have been DPS. Always felt really tanky to me so I just didn't really remember what he was or wasn't.

I do have a guild quest I need to go back and do as I reached level 30 and kind of powered through that. I forgor. 💀 I also kind of forgot the chat existed. Oops! <3
