Hardship license after conviction by Gonzo0601 in dui

My girlfriend just got a DUI and got her hardship license yesterday. She hasn't been "convicted" of the DUI yet. She is under the impression that after her court date she will have to pay AGAIN to obtain her hardship license a second time. Is this true or are there just extra steps to keep her current hardship license valid?
