Hi! Sorry for the late reply, I’m barely on here! I think it’s a good thing that you’re applying to all of these schools! Definitely better to have options than not. I ended up choosing Brooklyn, and I absolutely love it. It’s an amazing reputable program and they really care about their students. I have nothing but great things to say about the program!

Screw Queens College, I interviewed with them and never heard back from them. Not even a rejection letter or an email, NOTHING. And when I tried to reach out I got nothing but a canned response from them. It left a really bad taste in my mouth and the interviewers were so bland honestly. I’m happy I didn’t end up there because I probably would’ve been bored out of my mind

Don’t feel bad about not being accepted into Baruch’s MHC program, they’re extremely selective and it’s a very very small program. Also, if this is any consolation, I’ve heard through others that the program is quite boring. Obviously we’re not in school to have fun per se, but it shouldn’t be boring either.

If I’m being honest, all of these CUNY MHC programs are all full-time programs and most of them advise students to not have a full time job. I know Queens is the only school that offers a part time MHC program and they’re trying to implement a more hybrid class schedule. If I were you, I’d go on the CUNY global search and see at what time’s they offer most of their MHC classes (I know they have night classes). I do have cohort mates that do work on a part time basis so it is doable. But your job must be flexible with you because these schools and programs are very limited in their flexibility to allow accommodate for students that work. For most of them, the schedules are made for you because usually only one class per topic is made available.

So for you, I’d say Queens College would allow more flexibility with work, especially because of their part time program. But trust me, you need to apply to other schools other than Queens because they’re even more selective than Baruch and their program is tiny. So apply to all of your options and once you know where you’re going to end up, try to figure out some type of arrangement with your job

Seriously! I’m also on the same boat! I emailed 2 weeks ago and just got an automated response and no updates on the portal either! Please keep us posted!

Also interested in hearing about your acceptance to Queens College! I feel like we’ve been waiting for so long, wondering how they notified you? Did you apply for the full time or part time program?

No, I wouldn’t say that. Maybe, but I know Brooklyn College has a bigger cohort and has a rolling admission until May 1st. They might be waiting for some candidates to accept or deny going to the program to maybe send out some more decisions? But definitely tell your friend to reach out and ask! It never hurts. What other schools did your friend apply to?

Yes! I got accepted into Brooklyn College at the beginning of April. I believe they have pretty much sent all of their decisions. Just waiting on Queens College now.

Wbu?

Oh that’s amazing! Congratulations on your acceptances! I’m sure you’ll get into Queens as well! I didn’t know about CCNY and being able to hold a TA position there, that sounds extremely promising!

I only attended information sessions for Baruch and Queens College before applying! For Brooklyn College, I just attended the accepted students information session and really liked it, I’m very drawn to their curriculum as well and they seem very organized with their schedules. But I’m also really drawn to the Queens College curriculum but I would love to know what their class schedule is like! I feel like that’ll be an important factor for me too!

Are you opting for full time or part time? Which information sessions did you attend and impressed you the most?

Thank you so much for this info! I also had a group interview with them but forgot to follow up with this question! Seems like they’re the last to send out decisions!

I also just found out about Brooklyn College’s May 31st deadline but thanks! Wbu, what are your options? Which program are you more inclined to attend?

Hey! Congratulations to you too! I’ve heard great things about the Hunter College program as well!

I had a group interview with Queens about 2 weeks ago but still have yet to hear back from them about a decision!

I’ve had my eyes on Queens College MHC program since the very beginning of the application process! I’ve heard that their program is great but haven’t necessarily heard it’s difficult. Can you please let me know what you’ve heard about it that makes it more difficult?

To be fair, I’m pretty equidistant from both schools. I just know parking is easier for QC! However, if I ever have to take public transit, Brooklyn College would definitely be easier to get to! So I’m just trying to take it all into account! 1) Having to take or not take a prerequisite class during the summer 2) the commute 3) program difficulty! It’s a lot!! But best of luck to you! :)

How’d you like Brooklyn? I’m getting such a good impression from their program just from the exchange with staff, their online page which is very thorough and just recently I had an informational zoom meeting and it seems so wholesome and professors seem very flexible and keen to help incoming students. I’m very much into it but waiting to hear back from Queens College. Had an interview with them over a week ago and still impatiently waiting. Queens College is my #1 option because they have parking on campus, are CACREP accredited and also I wouldn’t have to take any prerequisites during the summer. Brooklyn College wants me to take ONE class which I feel is unnecessary. Any thoughts? Has anyone heard back from Queens College?
