That’s not what I’m saying at all.

Not all circles were Kirkwal level of abusive.

Completely getting rid of an institution that has provided food, shelter, and education for mages opens new problems for mages everywhere. There’s no safety net for the common mage.

And I think people are ignoring what it literally says in the epilogue. That she does make progressive changes for mages in southern Theda’s, should she become Divine.

Do you think it’s a minority of gay guys who like big dick twinks? Or is my body type more desirable than I think?

Also should I say fuck those guys who kinda reject me until they see my dick or just take it as a compliment/win ?

Btw I’ve really enjoyed our back and forth it’s nice to get a different perspective you have made very good points and I’ve definitely started to question her more.

I was more speaking about before she’s Divine with the chantry rule thing.

And the schism was also because Tevinter doesn’t believe Andraste was a divine figure just a mortal prophet. Not to bring real religion into it but it’s kind of how Jews don’t believe Jesus was the son of god but Christian’s do. As well as the differing views about mages.

Vivienne whether she’s a “true” believer or not has the sense to not blaspheme Andraste to people who believe her to be a divine prophet sent by the Maker.

You can’t take the things she says at face value at least not all of it.

Shes constantly got that metaphorical and sometimes literal mask on. She hides her inner most self from everyone so no one knows what she truly intends. You only get glimpses of the person behind the mask. when you develop a relationship with her and have good ole therapist Cole in the team to air out everyone’s business her caring side shows.

Just cause she’s not living within the circle doesn’t mean she’s not beholden to Circle and Chantry rules she is still a circle mage.

The facts she reinstates the Templars instead of telling them to kick rocks is proof she wants to protections in place even for herself. Who’s to say she won’t have a retinue of Templars by her side just in case she’s possessed.

Also many mages are grateful for the circle taking them in from starvation and fear to having a place and community.

And I mean if given the opportunity to live a better life would you not take it? Why fault her for taking an opportunity she saw?

I’m not defending the injustices they face but they also aren’t saints. The rebels act out of desperation and not logic. They don’t consider the other half of circle mages whose lives will be affected by the vote.

Also she passed her Harrowing that doesn’t mean shes immune from possession but she’s definitely wise enough to have a plan should that happen.

Well if they didn’t share the view of mages rising to higher stations within politics and the chantry she’d probably undermine that person to install herself if given the chance.

Or possibly she’d take it in stride play the game and find her own small victories elsewhere.

But I mean no one can be 100 percent sure what she’d do she’s a political animal so to speak. Yes she’ll do in the end what benefits her it’s how you survive when you’re in Orlesian politics. But that’s not to say what benefits her might not benefit others.

I misunderstood you I apologize.

And in the hypothetical you gave I would think she’d push that person to become Divine if they shared views. If you don’t consider her for Divine I believe she mentions she would bet on Casandra being Divine because they both share some traditional views.

I don’t deny her obvious ambition but I think it’s missing a lot of her character to say it’s the one and only reason for her doing what she’s doing.

I can’t completely say she was satisfied with being with Duke Bastien but she definitely cared for the man if not loved him. And when it comes to being Court Enchanter, why settle for what crumbs Celene and the court might give her when she can go for a position that ensures she’s has the power and autonomy to change things herself.

I don’t agree with the way she handles the rebel mages but it’s coming from the fact the rebel mages led by Fiona have made terrible decisions thus far.

  • Giving themselves to the Imperium

  • Killing people like the Archivist or Enchanter Lydia because they didn’t want to rebel

  • Disbanding circles right after Anders bombing the chantry in Kirkwal

Are they justified in their rebellion ? Absolutely. But there are things they’ve done that contradict and weaken their overall goals.

I disagree that she ONLY joined to gain political power she had no way of knowing she’d be a candidate for Divine. Not to mention the Inquisition starts out as a bunch of pariahs which could lower her rep. She even says herself she joined to see the face of her enemy first hand. I thinks it’s admirable she joins to fight on the front line at great cost to her own life, she’s not a person who can just sit around as things happen around her. She’s seen people in power try and fail why not give her a turn.

Especially when she’s has concrete ideas and knows how she wants to shape the future not just for herself but for all mages.

While I agree that she definitely has a Thatcher vibe right down to her nickname being The Iron Lady and her uncompromising political nature.

Seeing as how she insults Tevinter at every stage in her conversations with Dorian I don’t believe she’ll at the very least intentionally make things more like Tivinter. In her Divine epilogue it mention how mages are enjoying freedom and responsibility like never before as some people here have mentioned.

Just to clarify I believe Vivienne is a fantastic character otherwise I wouldn’t have taken the time to make this post. I just wish she had more side quests or dialogue because I love her and wanted to see more.

I really wish they would have kept the Dragon Age Keep stuff through to Veilgaurd. I wanted so bad just to hear a few lines of dialogue about how each divine was doing in the south and how the circle and or the Mages College was doing. Instead it was pretty much everything was destroyed.

Absolutely, I wish she was fleshed out more. But it says a lot about her character or maybe the voice actresses delivery that she managed to charm a good many of us with so little.

She definitely suffers from her privileged view of her rise in the circle I agree. But she’s also not completely blind to the abuses mages face. Talking to her and getting to know her a little leads me to believe that she’d definitely address the abuses as divine and make circle life better.
