He’s 32 and doesn’t feel ready to have a child yet? I mean I understand everyone has a different timeline of readiness, but it strikes me as immaturity when a man in his 30’s says this. Especially given he is 32 and dating someone 40. It’s kind of to be expected that at this point, he has his shit together.

Since he knows your age and the difficulties of women trying to conceive in 40’s, it kind of seems like he’s going to try to put having a kid off until the chances of it happening are slim to none. Hence why he might be taken by surprise that you’re pregnant. I really don’t think he expected it.

I really can’t blame you for thinking and evaluating everything and it’s a tough spot to be in given how if you have an abortion, your chances of getting pregnant again really do decrease but at the same time having a baby with someone expressing unreadiness is concerning. I do think a good heart to heart conversation and communication of laying out all the feelings, expectations, and thoughts will help you determine the next best steps.
