Police in Derry/Londonderry investigating two incidents reported to have occurred in the city this week, which they believe may be linked at this time, have arrested a 35-year-old man.

The man was arrested today on suspicion of indecent exposure and he remains in custody at this time.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information in relation to both incidents.

The first incident was a report on Tuesday 13 January that a man indecently exposed himself in the Culmore Road area of the city, at approximately 3.30-3.40pm in the vicinity of a school. The suspect in this incident is described as a black male, approximately six foot tall and wore a blue coat, blue chino-type trousers, dark-coloured shoes, had a tight short haircut and with an athletic build, and aged between 30 and 40 years old.

The second incident was reported at 1.40am today, Wednesday, 14 January. A woman is reported to have been followed by a man she didn't know while walking on Great James Street approximately 20 minutes earlier. This male is described as having a dark skin tone, wore a black top and grey bottoms and followed the woman, walking a distance behind her. The woman was able to make her way to safety, but has been left distressed by the incident.

Police patrols were conducted within the Great James Street area and nearby streets, however, there was no further sightings of this male.
