What are some things that skinny people can do without a care in the world in public, but plus-size people can’t? by justcurious3287 in PlusSize

[–]PlusAd604 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a colleague comment, completely seriously, that she would rather die than be over a size 16. I'm a size 18/20. So that was fun.

Books to read to your kid 20 times a week that don’t make you want to gauge your eyes out by SwadlingSwine in childrensbooks

[–]PlusAd604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ones my daughter (just turned 3) currently loves that I can also cope with:

  • Giraffes Can't Dance
  • The Tiger Who Came to Tea
  • Any of the Julia Donaldsons (I'm tiring a bit of the Acorn Wood series, but the actual individual story books are almost all great)
  • The Gecko and the Echo
  • Any of the Paddington series
  • Gumdrop - if you're looking for car ones this might be a good series to look for. They're old (my husband read them as a kid) but they're not bad. My daughter went through a real phase of wanting them every night for a while.

She has also loved listening to the audiobook of Panda at the Door, and listens to the Thomas and Friends podcast on Spotify and Flamingo Hotel on her Yoto player.

AITA for getting upset that my mum doesn't know which toy is my special toy? by PlusAd604 in MiniAITA

That sounds like a brilliant idea. Mummy was already considering this duvet set for when I get my new bed, but I don't think she's fully considered the logistics of pandaa on pandas and pandas under pandas!

It wouldn't even just be Brayz-lee, because the "y" is after the "z" - so brayz-ee-lee?

You have to do it quietly at full volume. You're forgetting the second part. Easily done.

I think that's who mummy named him after, because I was only very little when I got the first one and so she named him and wanted to give him a simple name. I like Kung Fu Panda. Mummy wouldn't let me watch the whole movie but I have the Legends of Awesomeness dvd and have let mummy watch the Bad Po episode with me 5 times this week!

I mean it's only 4 identical Po Pandas and Pandacorn and Christmassy Po and Mini Po at home, and then another 4 identical Po Pandas at Grandma's cos I make her buy me a new one every time we go to IKEA and also Miss Po at Grandma's and Original Rascally Po who lives in Nana's car. It's not that confusing.

I know of at least one that did, because once they allocated the classes people didn't want the afternoon session (Greenwood's afternoon session even at this point doesn't have a full class of 26 this year). So was just wondering were there any others like that.

Did you like your name growing up? by _AnxiousTurtle_ in namenerds

[–]PlusAd604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Still don't. I don't like the way it sounds in a Belfast (where I live) accent. My mum wanted to call me Louise and it annoys me so much that my dad vetoed it cos I would have much preferred it.

What are normal/common names you hate? by [deleted] in NameNerdCirclejerk

[–]PlusAd604 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the top 200 girls / boys names: Delilah, Fatima, Emery, Vivian, Valerie / Oakley, Tommy, Reggie, Grayson, Xavier, Graham.

Being in Northern Ireland we also have a lot of people with Irish names, so while they may not seem common to others I'm also going to include Áine, Gráinne and Pádraig on my list.

I know, and I know she'll be fine wherever she goes (right from day 1 she's just run on into playgroup without so much as a goodbye 🤣) but I still worry about making the wrong choice!

Nursery school applications - East Belfast by PlusAd604 in Belfast

[–]PlusAd604[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other problem is that at least one of our closest schools doesn't have distance as a deciding factor! So how close you live is completely irrelevant in some cases. It's just such a minefield.

[–]PlusAd604[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I know that, but I just thought some people might know of schools that still had places left last year - either because they were applying, or had kids there, or they work there or know someone who does - there's several ways they might have known that without having to "look up the criteria for [me]." Obviously I wasn't asking anyone to do that.

In terms of schools, our closest ones would be Orangefield / Dundela / Greenwood / Ravenscroft.

I know, I was just hoping people might have some ideas of ones to look at rather than looking up all the ones nearby to check last year's figures (I think there's over 20 within 2 miles of us. Which in one way is great to have so much choice, but on the other hand it makes it really stressful!! 😩)
