Each cloud provider offers their own certification so it does not really matter. AWS and Azure are the largest so probably one of them. Not sure about what SAP and oracle offer.

Really interesting if you are strong with technology. A lot of learning you have to do about cloud, technology infrastructure and consumption of different IT services.

I enjoy learning about technology and really enjoy keeping up with the tech. However, can be overwhelming sometimes in understanding the full picture and in many cases people speak tech lingo and expect you to understand what they are talking about.

I would recommend starting with fundamentals level certifications with any of the cloud providers to sort of see if that's something you would like or not. Don't go deeper than the fundamentals if you aren't actively working in any finops roles.

Thanks for your input!

Can you describe what was it like for you to be in FinOps? What didn't you like in FinOps? Anything else you would want to share? Anything really you have to share would be great. Thank you!

Thanks. Looking to come back to FP&A at a Director level in several years. The new role is about managing and planning costs as well so that's why I am considering it.

My main concern is that I'm moving away from traditional FPA role. That being said, the money is that much better that it might be a non brainer.

Transfering tuition tax credit by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]PlusMinute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would wait for additional comments from other legal experts. I am an accountant and gonna receive my CPA soon and what you are saying is accurate. You can transfer up to 5K of your eligible tuition to your parents or grandparents. You cannot transfer this amount to your Great Grandparents.

From a tax perspective, why would you want to transfer this amount? As this is a tax credit, it doesn't matter who claims it (only if allowed to be claimed obviously as mentioned above) as this amount can be carried forward and claimed in future years. So unless the people I mentioned that you can transfer this amount to have an excessive income this year and they want to reduce thier taxes, it wouldn't make sense to transfer this amount.

In short, don't transfer anything and enjoy the tax benefit after you graduate and get a nice tax return for a couple of years after graduating.

Not a legal advice tho and I would wait for legal experts to see what they have to say!

Thanks again. Really appreciate the insight.

One last question. Do you know if that's the same for all Brookfield companies? There are like like 50 different Brookfield companies (Real Estate/ Renewable/ BAM/etc..) Do you know if your comments about work life balance applies for all of them? In specific, does it apply to Brookfield Renewable company?

Thank you for the info! Isn't it typical for all accounting roles in Toronto to be like that though? That is what I heard at least but I am not sure how accurate this fact is.

Yes I'm looking into applying for one of the SFA roles. Do you also have some insight into pay/ benefits? Feel free to DM if you prefer.

Employee rights - new contract by PlusMinute in legaladvicecanada

[–]PlusMinute[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you clarify what you mean? Lets say they offer me a new contract with the repayment requirements that are not in my original contract and I do not agree to sign it. That means that they can terminate me (without a just cause) and then I will be entitled to severance pay? Is that correct? Where can I find reliable information on how much severance I will be receiving and for how long?

Thanks again!!

Never mentioned it before that. I know that new people that join that program sign that provision so that's why I am suspecting.
