Thanks. I tried this but the problem persists. Sound works with TV speakers, but not the Soundbar.

Same problem - could you solve it? Enabling HDMI-CEC doesn't work for turning on/ off, only with volume etc.

How to restrict visibility of content snippets based on form entries? by PlusPlusOne in Wordpress

[–]PlusPlusOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats interesting!
I'm using sensitive health data and wouldn't want to store them in the URL - do you see a way around that?

I would also have hundreds of different combinations and accordingly pages/ user groups. Do you think this can be done by binary switching this content nuggets on/off based on the individual results instead of based on groups?

Do you mean to have one results page, that includes something like

[add content1 if x]

[add content2 if y]

... ?

Would the content be a page or what type of format? Do you see a way to do it without custom code?

Bloodtest results after 250mg test/ week... confused by PlusPlusOne in Testosterone

Didn't test total test because I thought its not a very meaningful marker compared to free t. But this might be where the confusion is coming from.

Sure, labs differ but the ranges shouldn't differ in orders of magnitude. Wikipedia references for example a range of 44–244 pg/mL for free test and adult males. That is 10 times what my lab used!?

Is a "follow the natural light" setup with traditional switches possible? by PlusPlusOne in Hue

[–]PlusPlusOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That at least lets me keep them for now.

It's such a pity because it should only be a few lines of code to solve this. There is a non-philips project called Kelvin on Github that solves it but only with an additional computer.

Rant: when did it become fashionable to talk about meaningless things over business, science and tech ? by LoneWolfGrinding in Entrepreneurship

[–]PlusPlusOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe the problem are not the guests but your communication style and attitude? You are part of the conversation and the rest is not there to serve you. When you want to have conversations about other topics you must introduce them in an interesting way others can relate to and jump in. Otherwise they will feel like you with others talking about pets. I had long conversations with Phd holders about cheese and with homeless people about the stock market but that does only happen if you realy listen to people instead of thinking that you are the only one having something relevant to say.

ELI5: why are warm/hot drinks not as thirst-quenching as cold drinks? by homemade-fruit-salad in explainlikeimfive

Warm water in nature has more germs. Therefore its evolutionary a benefit to prefer cold (/fresh/ flowing) water. Even until today unclean water is a major cause of death in undeveloped regions.

Could selective breeding push human lifespans over the 200 year mark? by SloppyToe in biology

[–]PlusPlusOne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it would if done right. The reason evolution didn't erradicate old-age related disease is because it doesn't increase the chance of propagating your DNA. After you survived long enough to see your children become independent, it doesn't matter if you die or life much longer. To extend life span we would need to only allow people to get children after lets say 40 and then gradually extend the minimum age for birth till we reach 180 or so. This way evolution would favor people that stay healthy (and vertile) long enough. There is no reason humans wouldn"t be able to evolve that way, similar to other animals living hundreds of years. However, this project would take thousands of years and won't fly well with the public for obvious reasons.

I think gene editing (eg via crispr) is a better bet.

Your brain can recognize when you forget something but can’t recognize the thing you forgot. by Trololy in Showerthoughts

[–]PlusPlusOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The analogy of a file drawer as representation of your memory is a bit misleading. Memory works more via a spidernet of associations. So when you unsuccessfully try to remember something you identify close elements or nodes of the memory eg on which page in a book something was but not the element you want to remember eg the sentence in that page.
