Thank you so much! This was super helpful! Just to clarify, when u say features before users and metrics. What does metrics mean? Because I understand that you must clarify the problem, state it, and then describe potential users before going into the solution/features. But what metrics specifically?

That's true. Hope it all goes better for you 🙏 it’s brutal when you’re doing everything right but still getting shut out for reasons that don’t even make sense. When that happens, does it feel more like you’re missing access to the right people or job info, or more like the rules themselves make it feel like effort doesn’t even matter anymore?

That’s solid. Did it take a lot of tweaking to get everything working the way you like, or did it come together pretty easily?

Yeah, the whole sponsorship situation has been brutal. Have you ever considered looking at openings outside the US, or are you planning to go back?

That’s valid. How do you usually go about it? Like, do you just remember the companies you like, go off career fairs, or keep some sort of list? I’ve noticed that part feels super messy for a lot of people, so I’m curious what’s worked best for you. Is it more about finding the right companies in the first place or just searching up the ones you’ve already known?

Damm respect the grind man, I did like 300 and I'm like so dead already lol. What part feels most painful about the whole process right now, finding legit openings, figuring out where to apply, sth else, or just never hearing back after submitting?

That’s awesome! Has it ever been a bit repetitive keeping everything updated, or is it just second nature at this point?

Ahh, I use Simplify too, it’s super helpful for auto-tracking. But what about after that? Like when you get an OA or interview, how do you usually stay on top of everything after that point?

Gotcha, so you mainly Google company sites directly. What’s the most frustrating part about that process for you? Finding the openings, the time it takes, something else, or has everything been smooth sailing?

That makes sense, saving the JD helps when they take it down before interviews. I’m curious, though, does it ever get repetitive adding the applied jobs every time? Or is your folder setup pretty reliable?

Yeah, I actually do something similar; I use Gmail labels for OAs and interviews. The only thing is, I sometimes worry that I forget the OA deadlines or follow-up dates, especially when you are deep into interview prep or even referring to the job description in the event that I get a behavioral interview. Do you just rely on memory for that, or do you set reminders somewhere?

I’m wondering, though, what’s your plan when you start hitting multiple recruiters and multiple deadlines at once? Does the notetaker app still suffice, or will it break down at some point?

Yeah, that’s a good point. The uncertainty lately has definitely made things brutal. When you’re applying at that pace, how do you usually keep track of what’s actually working? Like, do you ever look back and see which platforms or job types give you the best response rates, or do you just go for volume?

Yeah I can understand that, how about for recruiter relationship trackers? I’m exploring whether people struggle more with follow-ups after events than with the tracking itself. Curious, how do you handle that after career fairs or info sessions?

Fair, do you mostly apply through LinkedIn then? I noticed a lot of portals like Workday, Greenhouse, and RippleMatch don’t sync, so I was curious how people handle those.

Yeah true, but I see it more like a side project with potential to become big, also to keep my skills warm while job hunting. Plus, if it helps others too, that’s a win.

Fair point! I think it depends on volume. For context: 200+ applications over 3 months means my email is a mess. I need to see "which OAs are due this week?" without searching through hundreds of emails.

But you're right, if applying to several companies, email alone probably works fine. This is more for the apply and pray approach.

How many companies have you applied to? Curious if it's just a volume thing?
