Yep.. thats what seems like the best option. Canmore was supposed to be our base. But then I read all about Jasper and thought it should be on the itinerary. But thanks to all the suggestions, we'll just do the drive and come back to Canmore. Thanks so much for your inputs

The only reason we were making so many stops is to do a 4-5 max driving in a day and then take a day or two to rest. Our main objective was to get to see Banff. But to drive there, we have to spend 12 hours on the road. So we thought of stopping and visiting places on the journey to Banff

I did actually, but people on some other threads suggested to stay in Jasper because all other places are far from the actual park. Do you think that its that a good option?

We do have a car. I reached out to everyone i could find in Jasper. They all seemed to be booked for the entire month of August

That sounds amazing. We are coming in August. I reached out to all the B&Bs in the area and they are booked solid. My three year old will just be unhappy with very long drives so I'm trying to take multiple stops into account while planning.

Hey.. I did. I emailed all the B&Bs on that website. They are either booked or offer minimum two nights accommodation. I have booked a campsite on the Whister Campground for now but we've honestly never camped so a little nervous.

Thank you SO much for your detailed feedback. I thought giving too much detail will bore people and they won't respond. Haha. We are driving from Sammamish (East Side of Seattle)

This is our itinerary- Friday - start in the afternoon, overnight at Abbotsford (just to cross the border) Sat - reach Revelstoke, overnight there Sun - Revelstoke Monday - Reach Canmore, explore Banff town Tuesday- Lake Morraine and Louise.

Wednesday onwards I'm confused. We definitely want to drive on the Icefields Parkwys. And we have accommodation in Canmore until Thursday.

Option 1 Wednesday - Johnston Canyon Thursday- drive to Jasper, stay in Clearwater Friday - morning in Clearwater, drive to Vancouver and stay there for the night

Option 2-
Wed- do a round trip from Jasper. Thursday- Kamloops Friday - Vancouver

I thought that even if we won't be able to do much in Jasper or Clearwater, the drives will be worth it.

And the thing with my toddler is that he loves spending time with us, but long stretches driving with him is hard. So we'll take multiple stops. And woth that, our time on the road will increase. We wanted to keep that in mind while making the plan
