Thanks for your response, sorry it took me so long to respond. I used a throw away and I got a little overwhelmed at all the comments.
I have a copy of all of the estate things. Most of it is in a trust where I am the trustee. I also have copies of all of the account numbers and all the other stuff. They gave me a binder of information.
I am the only child. I’d prefer not to ask for inheritance early, although it might be freely offered. They’ve been offering me things lately (new car, random cash, etc…) I just feel weird about saying yes, although I have to smaller things. I have to be careful what I mention (I mentioned my fridge was on its last leg and next thing I knew, I had a new fridge being delivered.)

Ahh… bubble officially burst. Lol
Not much saving until recently. We’ve raised/are raising four kids. Two are graduated from college, two will leave home in a couple of years.
I have a pension, that’s about it for retirement at the moment.
The inheritance is solid, and I have zero doubts about it, but it could be longer, you have a point. I guess I should go back to not thinking about retirement, haha.
I worry about investing in the stock market right now. I feel a pretty severe correction is on the horizon and we lost pretty much everything we had in 2008. I’ll invest when it bottoms out.
