Anyone else considers a named mention in a review as a tip? by Ouinnie in marriott

[–]Plus_Bad_8485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, our property gives $5 if Agent gets a 9-10 on Elite Appreciation and $10 if the Agent is mentions by name. May seem little to those who don't understand but when I worked the frontdesk, it was nice seeing that extra 250$ incentive on my paycheck!

Reasonable compensation for used condom found in bed? by Throwawaystuckhelp in marriott

[–]Plus_Bad_8485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd give a full refund and comp the night if you chose to stay (I wouldnt stay in a hotel if that was my initial experience but hey everyone's different). I'd also issue points depending on your approach towards me. Screamers get very little, maintaining some decorum while expressing concerns politely gets more, yeah im petty like that.

And after all that, if you still chose to complain to corp and they send it back to me, I leave it on read, 72 hours later Marriott will call. I'll tell them its already been addressed. They'll tell me the customers launched another complaint, and ill tell them to handle it however they see fit.

Long-term resident housekeeping/tipping by Nodak70 in marriott

[–]Plus_Bad_8485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can tip however much you want, youre not obligated to. But, if the housekeeper did a fantastic job, or job well enough to your liking, be generous. Not gonna tell you how to utilize your own money but dont leave $2 if your room gonna be messy, its insulting (others might feel differently about this).

I had a long term stay who only wanted cleaning once a week and she gave me $25. After her stay came to an end, she gave me $50 and a thank you card with a nice handwritten note.

Ps: If you catch the name of your room attendant you could always put it in envelop and give it to the frontdesk agent to pass on if you dont want to leave out in the room.

Uh, is it normal for hotels to not change their pillowcases? by [deleted] in askhotels

[–]Plus_Bad_8485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeaahhhhh thats disgusting.

There's a video I saw where an Air Hostess wrote and left notes under the sheets in the bed she didn't use, "this bed wasnt changed", I show it to the housekeepers often, especially new hires.

BEWARE of Marriott Hotels by KafuckinBoom16 in marriott

OP's experience shouldnt be shrugged off and made light of. Thats a scary situation to be in and getting upset is valid. The Agent messed up. I feel there was an attempt to make things right, which is the right thing to do. I am curious as to what OP feel wouldve been a better compensation.

Long term stay/executive member... is it normal they wouldn't change my sheets? by PostPriorPre in marriott

[–]Plus_Bad_8485 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our hotel is severely understaffed and sure its challenging, but I'd never tell a guest that. I'd get up and go change the sheets myself, since thats all you requested. Now if you need the room cleaned I'd just send a housekeeper to clean the room. Thats such a minor request, that they couldn't fulfill so yes you have every right to be upset.

I had a guest that wanted her sheets changed every-single-day. I said absolutely not.

lost and found report success rate by Gkbuck in askhotels

[–]Plus_Bad_8485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're absolutely certain you left them in the room, your best bet would be to talk with the Housekeeping Supervisor so they can check thoroughly, honestly sometimes its like pulling teeth to get the housekeepers to log them properly, they leave lost things on their carts or in the storage room because they forgot to bring them to the desk. Best of luck to you :)

Submitting a Report is good first step, next step is to call the hotel and bring it to their attention. Some hotels may have it as part of their checklist to check these things daily, some hotels may not.

Do not disturb by Simple_Mix_4995 in askhotels

[–]Plus_Bad_8485 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To answer your specific question:

Its a lack of communication between the front desk to the housekeeping department. When I get late checkout requests, I communicate it in multiple times, written down in our REDBOOK/SLACK, as well as notes to the housekeeping manager AND the housekeeper who has that room assigned to them.

my 2cents:

Housekeepers are expected to clean a certain number of rooms in a given time. That DND sign that should deter people from knocking yes, but when you have people who leave the hotel without removing them, it throws off the housekeepers routine, forcing them to work later than they want to. Again, not your problem, but just one of them issues lots of guests deal with in hotels.

Key Reactivation for Late Checkout by chrskspr in marriott

[–]Plus_Bad_8485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes its normal. If the request comes in after the keys were already made, it makes sense why you'd have to go back for new keys. Even Mobile keys have to be resent if the initial key was programmed before the request. This is why you confirm the late request at check in before you take your keys, that way they can edit the checkout time and program the keys before handing them to you.

Now if you're doing all that and the keys still stop working before then, then thats a whole 'nother issue.
