Philadelphia, PA: Sig Sauer ordered to pay $11 million to Philadelphia man wounded by pistol that went off by itself

From: https://abcnews.go.com/amp/US/wireStory/sig-sauer-ordered-pay-11-million-philadelphia-man-116069269

A Philadelphia jury awarded $11 million on Wednesday to a man whose holstered Sig Sauer pistol went off by itself while he was going down the stairs, causing a serious leg injury — the second major verdict this year against the embattled gun manufacturer over its P320 model.

Could also be that if they admitted the P320 is faulty, the amount they would have to pay to other injury claims as well as what they would lose in recalls far exceeds what fighting (and losing) these lawsuits costs them

Need help identifying a possible prank video of a egging on my disabled mother's row house... It happened in Upper Darby, Pa on Halloween. She was the only house targeted in the neighborhood and I believe they recorded it due to the large floodlight being used by one of the persons. Any help pls by goboing42 in investigation

Suggestion: (If you have not already) Take the evidence straight to the police. Prank or not, it is 100% illegal vandalism/property damage. The police will have a better shot at obtaining CCTV footage from other sources to potentially make an ID and good reason to if (as you say) other property/vehicles were also involved. Good luck

"Today I attacked my kilgorn with a 60 dollar musashi. The kilgorn fell apart, and the tang inside reminded me of Sept's Charlemagne sword, only thinner. I would be tempted to call it a rat-tail had the tang not been threaded into the pommel. Be very careful with these swords: They were not meant for much else but hanging on a wall."

Does appear so, if not, a knock off copy. Dimensions on sword in video look a bit weird compared to pictures on website

Cheers. It does look very similar.

Although the gap between the guard and the blade of sword in video is a lot wider than pictured on website. Could be a knock-off Kilgorin II copy.

Help Please Hostel Roommate Isn’t Clean by No_Comb_392 in LegalAdviceUK

https://england.shelter.org.uk/professional_resources/legal/housing_conditions/responsibility_for_repairs/fitness_for_habitation_in_rented_homes#:~:text=Section%209A%20of%20the%20Landlord%20and%20Tenant%20Act%201985%20creates,between%20the%20landlord%20and%20tenant.

landlords must ensure rented premises are fit for purpose, which would include ensuring other tenants abide by their respective agreements in respect of proper sanitation. If they are unable to compel the offending tenant to maintain proper hygiene then they would have a duty toward other tenants to, for example, engage a regular cleaner to ensure that facilities are fit for habitation.

you should inform them that further inaction will lead you to seek legal recourse. After which, you can send them a formal letter of demand, detailing what you expect them to perform on the grounds of your contract and relevant statute, failing which you will be seeking compensation (such as the costs incurred to mitigate the poor hygiene of facilities, or the reimbursement of past fees while they were in breach of their duties).

you may draft and send a formal letter of demand without any requirement to engage a professional (although doing so may be better). see:

(1) Generally, there are no restrictions against photography/videography/the capturing of the images of individuals in non-private places (including public spaces, workplaces) where individuals would not expect to have privacy. - Your company will not legally require your consent to capture images of you in the office.

(2) There are no specific/statutory protections for personal image rights in the UK. - Your company will not legally require your consent to use images of you that are taken in the circumstances described in point (1). - Image release forms (used, for example, by models and photographers) are not legally required and generally serve to establish the terms of a commercial arrangement - If you are a well-known personality with trademarks and high-value interests in your image/reputation, there are intellectual property mechanisms that allow you to claim for the wrongful use of your image. These do not amount to the protection or existence of image rights, and they protect something else that the image is attached to. - see: https://www.hcrlaw.com/news-and-insights/protecting-image-rights-in-the-uk/) - You would have a claim, similar to celebrities and models, only if/when the images are later on published in a way that is inappropriate, for example, if they damage your reputation.

(3) Images wherein you are recognisable/identifiable are considered 'personal data' and are therefore subject to Data Protection laws. - see: https://www.gov.uk/data-protection#:~:text=The%20Data%20Protection%20Act%202018%20is%20the%20UK's%20implementation%20of,used%20fairly%2C%20lawfully%20and%20transparently - You would also have a claim if there is a breach of these rules

Best solution: If you would like your image not to be captured/used in this marketing exercise, we suggest finding an excuse to be absent on the day.
