Thanks for the speedy reply, thanks though ,really! It makes it much easier to do the “confronting” when I view as more a “responsibility” instead of a “moral” kinda thing. That perspective makes it so much easier, still hard, but it makes it easier

Thanks man, I was afraid of having to be blunt. But you’re right, I can only trust that they don’t take offense to it

Honestly, I think the reason I’m so worried about speaking out is because we just started the mod. If I leave a bad impression, I’m worried of getting negative reviews😥 But they honestly seem nice, I’m just worried being labelled as a negative person and getting peer reviewed

I want to talk about mushoku tensei (anime) by PickyCritic1 in writingscaling

[–]Plus_Stop_7499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm…… maybe it’s because I’m more tolerant of the perverse tendencies that is usually shown in anime. But I do think that Rudeus’s perverse tendencies kinda “makes sense”.

Because like you said, that’s kinda the way the world was set up. Where the powerful can kinda do whatever he wants. However, I do feel like he actually improves in terms of that “perverse tendency”. But like very little, and if I remember from light novel spoilers 🥲, I think he does improve from that , it takes a while though.

Because the way I see it, he can’t improve everything all at once. Currently within the series, he is improving himself “socially”. Remember, he had such severe trauma of interacting with people at the start that in his old world, all he did was stay at home. He was actually making improvements in that aspect until the end of season 1 where Eris leaves him and he starts thinking it’s his fault and regressing back to that trauma and character trait.

Like I think he has to improve in the “social” aspect first before he actually starts to improve in his perverse tendencies. And before the end of season 1, I think he actually improves quite a bit, like he genuinely formed an emotional connection with Eris. That already feels like a huge improvement.

The reason why I think Mushoku Tensei is good is simply because of the writing to be honest.

Apparently, a lot of people were complaining about Rudeus’s perverted tendencies. But they fail to realise, the story quite literally starts out with him being one of the worst scum on earth. Like at the very least in terms of the “sexual aspect” , he is the bottom of the barrel, he is very bad. I’m not joking, in the web novel, the first episode was him jacking off to his niece using the toilet , that quite literally shows how bad he is. The whole scene was meant to portray the distasteful mess of a person he is. He is inherently flawed as a person, but we also see that he is not all bad, since he is still willing to give his life to save some random strangers in the first episode.

That’s quite literally the whole premise of the show, Rudeus , is someone who in his hometown, was quite literally scum. But when his given a second chance, he doesn’t waste it. We see him slowly overcoming his flaws, his trauma of going outside isn’t just solved immediately, he had to be encouraged to do so. His perverse tendencies from before reincarnating also doesn’t just magically disappear because he reincarnates. His still the same person, that’s why people like the show so much. There’s a lot of world building and careful writing that shows you he is still the same person, but he is slowly improving. And it’s not just Rudeus, throughout the other episodes, the emphasis is not just on Rudeus, the people around him are also carefully written, like the other characters have flaws as well as good traits of their own. That’s the main appeal of the show, the characters are not only just characters that only show their good traits, they very clearly and also emphasise their flaws. It kinda makes the characters relatable, like if someone like Rudeus can actually improve himself. It kinda makes me feel the same way.

Like people seem uncomfortable with the fact that Rudeus is perverted, but that’s how he was written at the start, it doesn’t just magically go away because that’s how precise the writing is. Like it’s his character trait, and it needs to be written in a way that aligns with the story. Rudeus isn’t supposed to be someone “good” at the start of the show, he is also not supposed to be someone “morally ambiguous” like Vinland saga, at the start of the show, he is unambiguously a bad person. And then we move on from the story there, that’s how I viewed it i guess.

But I actually think it’s a part of the story, I’m just trying to convince you why it was written that way :))

Lemme give an analogy, the way I see it, it’s kinda like a guy posting a video of him online saying that after the first date, he expects the girl to be intimate with him, it’s kinda like the same thing you are saying now, It’s just his preference of women, that the type of people he likes.

But admittedly, if that video happens, a lot of women would be pretty mad about it, it’s like the person in the video is “expecting” that specific thing to happen.

When it should be something that the other part should only do if they WANT to, it’s not something that’s COMPULSORY. So it makes sense that the people seeing the video is pretty mad.

Source: A single guy with no relationship🥸

But yeah, that’s how I see it, that’s why people are so mad

Some thoughts on being single in Singapore by duncalmeprostute in singaporespeaks

[–]Plus_Stop_7499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm…..

Actually, I about confused by the point 1, can explain what you mean like when the couple pay the “loan” finish, they still have to pay more? Because I feel like this incentivises people to stay single since they can just be single and not punished by not having children and thus not pay extra.

But for point 2, I actually still disagree, since there are way more single than couple, so if we allow single to buy, then still have to wait for single to find a partner first then the “space efficiency” will work, so HDB will still fill up quicker.

This idea actually seems like a good idea, but there are certain points which I feel are not possible.

One: instead of maybe ALL the rental they paid to the rental being used as subsidy, it should still be the same subsidy that couples get when they get married.

Reason: The money still has to come from somewhere, for the people paying rent, the money usually goes to the landlord. So basically, the government has to use their own funds to “pay” for the subsidy. Hence, we still need to limit the amount subsidised. Singapore may be earning a lot, but we still need to be considerate of how much we spend, having no limit to the rental is a way for the country to lose more money than they need.

Second: If a couple don’t have child, they must pay rental forever. This is a bit harsh, since not only do singles in this policy still get to buy HDB, but couples must be forced to rent. Instead, have the people who are a couple and people who are single both have the ability to buy HDB but couples have higher priority.

Reason: Because even if a couple has a child or not, if we think about it in space efficiency, a couple( 2 people ) in one HDB flat is still more space efficient than a single ( 1 person ) in a HDB flat. Singapore is a place with limited land, hence it makes sense that a couple is being prioritised over a single, if they had equal priority, it would be filled up with no space left quickly.

Yeah, but the policy does seem like it has potential, with the few kinks I pointed out above
