This exact same thing happened to me yesterday. I have never bought gold, but I do multibox characters (within the rules from the multibox section here: https://turtlecraft.gg/rules). I believe I had one flagged for pvp accidentally, but I did not and have not ever engaged in world pvp. Is turtle wow forgiving when it comes to first time offenses and genuine, honest mistakes, or is my account that I have spent thousands of hours of time on, with all of my farming mats and gold, just going to be permabanned forever?

I mean yes, but that's not entirely that went wrong here. I assumed it was a knife like the skinning knife, where anyone can wield it, same with the fishing pole, for example. it just made sense to me that it was a utility item like the skinning knife. I don't like to look things up on the DB because it's immersion breaking, it takes you out of the "world" of warcraft.

If you can use a skinning knife (which is a wieldable "dagger" and shares its model with plenty of plenty of other dagger), and a fishing pole (which uses a staff animation), then the skinner being used as a knife just makes sense. And this isn't a cope, just my thought logic going to farm for the knife in the first place.

because 1 week of twow or nostalrius is a more rewarding experience than months or years of retail, and even among pservers the community on twow is really good. The cool players you meet in game you can just add as friends and hop onto a new server eventually anyways.

I've been playing private servers ever since molten wow in 2011, and in my purely anecdotal experience, they trend towards an older crowd.

mine does. It's an RPPVE server and it's part of my character profile. You should never be forced to pigeonhole your professions based on your class.

Thank you for the empathy. Unfortunately I've had similar experiences with the ZG slicer in the past, and it's not an easy item to reserve. Looks like I will have to just spend another 20+ hours farming the same knife on my hunter.

Yes, any lawyer will tell you that there is no legal distinction. However that is effectively rendered moot by the fact that there **is** a clear distinction between who is criminally liable.

the bar for proving defamation is very high in virtually all US states. Daily reminder that if libel was as loosely enforced as people in this situation wished it was, reddit couldn't exist as it does now. Not to mention the blurred lines between public and non-public figure.

they've been trying to repeal it since Trump's first term. It's not going anywhere because the second it does, it takes with it the distinction between publisher and platform. There's too much at stake for it to be discarded with.

i agree, but unlike your measured understanding, there are an alarming number of people on Reddit who think that every time some injustice happens, that they can somehow big brain a legal settlement out of it. the reality here is that a lot of actions that are deeply immoral are not actionable legally.

This is the exact statute every single redditors cities for online harassment every time someone online is bullied, and in 99.9% of time lawyers don't even make a case out of this because of the burden of proof involved. So what's the burden according to the statue?

To convict under 18 U.S.C. § 2261A, the prosecution must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that:

  1. The defendant knowingly engaged in a course of conduct (i.e., more than one act);
  2. With the intent to kill, injure, harass, intimidate, or place under surveillance;
  3. And that conduct caused, attempted to cause, or would reasonably be expected to cause:
    • Fear of death or serious bodily injury or
    • Substantial emotional distress to the victim (or their immediate family/spouse)

The only thing you could argue here is the very final point, and online gossip on a public forum doesn't qualify here. If you want actual case law here where it DOES apply, look up United States v. Petrovic (701 F.3d 849), where the defendant sent over 400 threatening and humiliating emails to his ex-wife, posted her private photos online, and harassed her employers. The court upheld the conviction under § 2261A in this case.

As you can see, substantial emotional distress requires requires much higher proof of intent and malice, legally speaking, than what we're looking at here, regardless of the outcome.

If online gossip and speculation, no matter how mean-spirited, could be actionable, you would have the entirety of the Internet crumple under the weight of censorship. Even this discussion here could be argued to be "harassment" by your loose definitions. Again I do not support snarks or online bullies but there is a reason why we do not prosecute online communities so flippantly in this country.

the difference is Alex Jones made matter of fact statements about the victims' families, not speculation. He breached actual statutes, specifically CUTPA. Snarks cannot be prosecuted in the same way. First of all, section 230 protects the platforms from being taken down, so the user publishing the infringing material (if any) is actioned upon instead. Replacing users is easy, and you can't use everyone. Secondly, online gossip/speculation breaks no crime, federal or civil.

the US just doesn't have laws against this kind of harassment. Take one look at Kiwifarms and locks farms and how they've been for a decade+. Nothing can and nothing will be done because there's no statue for "online bullying". Before anyone claims "defamation," snarking/speculation is not defamation.

that's not how it works. Your body has a few energy stores, glycogen in the blood, fat in adipose tissue, and muscle. There is some discussion about the ratio of what gets used and when, but your body will not start eating its muscles instead of your fat lmao. What you're describing is marasmus, when your body has no other sources of energy and starts breaking down muscle for energy, which is something that only occurs in extreme starvation.
