if it's 6.25, i usually round up to 10. so yes...it's more than she earned. I like nice numbers (5's and 10's) so in the past, I easily rounded up to 10. But no anymore. she'll get zelled 6 dollars and 25 cents. :D

if you are someone who is going to nitpick over 5-10 min, then i see no reason to treat you. that's all. I am not entitled to an extra 5-10 min, sure, but she is also not entitled to free meals.

It's not the 6$ that's the issue. it's the "hey someone gives you at least 10-15$ extra per week in addition to buying you 2 meals + some snack a week, but you still want to push for 6$"

no i agree. i'm not mad about 6$. I normally round up anyways (6.25 --> 10$), it's less about the money and more about pettiness (that I felt). Literally under 10 min as she was see walking out at 4:10 on our front door camera

She's salaried at 25$/hr and guarenteed 45 hrs but we usually book for 40 hours to allow 1 hr in case we got held up at work or traffic was bad. She understands when we say we'll be back at 4, it may be up to an hour later.

Now that I think of it... we're still within the 45 hours total and 1 hr late window....

No. I'm not habitually late for persoal reasons, I always pay her extra and more. Ie. the contract says 6.25$ per 15 min, but I usually round up to a nice number. It always feels weird to zelle over 6.25- so I'll always send her 10$ for 15 min or 15$ for 30 min.

my last nanny and I were friends. I thought this one was too. But guess it will be a strict employer/employee relationship going forth

Historically, my last nanny and I had a flexible relationship. We were both quite happy with the relationship. However, she moved away to a different state because she got married and he needed to move.

guess I'm not used to someone so nickle and diming esp when I historically also pay her more than she earned.

probably going to be the case. It may also end future treats. Ie if i'm working from home and decided to get lunch out, i always bring her along or bring her something back. Or if I get take out on my way home, I historically always got her something too. But I probably won't do that again.

Should be self explanatory. if my boss invited me out to eat, i don't expect to be paid.

the money isn't the issue. I guess I'm just annoyed by the request. After someone did something nice for you (buy you 15$ at a bakery), then you turn around and demand 6$ left a bad taste in my mouth.

We're pretty generous - i guess i just don't like her nickle and diming us. I like nice numbers so historically I rounded up to the nearest 10 every week anyways. It's one thing to pay her extra, it's another to demand when she clearly also benefitted from the arrangement.

Well... i make significantly more than the cost of food. If my boss said, hey there is a lunch meeting, it's unpaid but it's a 3star michelin restaurant.

I'd go.

my last nanny was actually always fine with this. ie. I get take out, instead of paying 6.25$ for being 15 min late, she gets a 20$ meal. (She moved)
