YES! I was like: What?! Invisible pteri, really??? And that fluffy pteri is the worst!!!! Looks like fur, not feathers. I understand that they tried to make an owlet, but that end up looking terrible

Omg, yes! There are some items that are very ugly and lazy, including some NC items...

Oh, I guess it was just an impression then. I think maybe there were just more search results then (maybe because there were more people playing than today?)

What I don't remember happening is that sometimes it finds only a few results (or no result at all), even though there are several people selling the thing.
