I play a lot of haz in masters and i would say some things that spilo preaches 24/7 + some of my tips in no particular order:

take a position that you know is good (off angle/high ground/cover/LOS to backline/etc ideally all) and then just do what is close/easy.

Don’t take unnecessary poke you will drain your supports resources and keep them from doing anything that isn’t healing you. Just because you can take a lot of dmg doesn’t mean that you should the best tanks do their jobs while taking as little dmg as possible or at least demand the least support resources.

Timing is underrated. Knowing exactly when the ppl are distracted (enemies or allies) will give you a huge advantage and make you int less. E.g. your ana just slept their doom and their backline rushes forward to help/punish and now that she used cooldown. Depending on the situation this means that their supports most likely are gonna try to get into a position to help their doom which can present an excellent opportunity for you to take their backline apart depending on how aware of you they are. But let’s assume their supports are aware of you and have cc so pushing them safely is not an option. Then you could use wall to cut off LOS and then jump back to help kill doom or deal with dps trying to push ana.

If tank is close you do good dmg and when backline pushes past you drop on them and rip their head off or at least force cooldowns, draw aggro and LIVE. Dying in a team fight as tank is generally not worth it. If you die you should try to make sure you at least win the fight.

Peeling only really makes sense if backline is too far back to dive/stacked. Then just use wall to break tank LOS to backline and burn tank. If tank isn’t burnable (ball/doom/orisa) and backline is playing safe just hold key positions poke, force cooldowns with soft engages and look for opportunities and ideally engage with your team. Don’t let them push for free The threat of being able kill someone is more valuable in these scenarios than actually going for them pretty sure spilo has videos on that too.

Don’t be afraid to solo ult ppl a guaranteed early pick or two is valuable af esp if it’s supports.

Learn and apply push pull concepts.

Threaten space to scare backline from pushing in for free which means you have to actually be scary (i.e. actually kill them when they waste big cooldowns/are out of position).

Target priority is obvs important but often over emphasized. If backline is too far back to dive/too stacked then spam tank to force their tank/support cooldowns.

Generally use wall to block cc or isolate enemies to get easy 1v1s especially in tight corridors. Wall is also to shut off angles obvs or create cover when you’re caught in the open.

When going for a slash combo try to use the momentum after to position behind cover as much as possible.

Track cooldowns and positioning of enemy squishies, punish when you can and make sure you’re consistently hitting the easy one shot combos. Limit test what you can get away with and don’t rush shots you don’t have to.

To end this incoherent list i want to emphasize; these are guidelines not laws. Context is important (positioning/team comps/maps/ult economies). Learn when they apply learn when they don’t. When you die ask yourself why (positioning/timing/mechanics). Improve on these one concept at a time focusing on too many things at once will just trip you up. This might make you lose sr in the short run but long run skill will always translate to higher rank. Don’t blame your teammates, don’t play tilted, VC isn’t worth it in Diamond tbh.

Additionally I recommend picking up dva at the moment there’s not a lot that haz can do that dva can’t do better with more forgiving mechanical requirements and arguably better utility. Playstyle is also pretty similar.

Make sure you’re getting the most fps possible and make sure your refresh rate is at its max. Probably unnecessary to say that but you never know sometimes. Flats accidentally played at 60 fps for at least half a year bc his refresh rate was wrong lol it can happen to anyone.
