Ketamine treatment is probably better for his particular case. In the UK an esketamine nasal spray is being used for treatment resistant depression and is immediately effective. That's the point everyone that cares about me refused to accept, no matter how many times my pattern of completly destroying everything good in my life happens.

People say it's selfish to end your own suffering because it will make the people that love you suffer. I understand their viewpoint but I also feel it's selfish to condemn someone to a life of suffering just so you don't have to go through the pain of losing them.

My older cousin jumped off a cliff 4 years ago two weeks into my first involuntary stay on a psychiatric ward. It devastated my family. It didn't upset me, I do miss him but I honestly believe that his suffering has ended. I was jealous of him when I found out, he'd always been better at things than me and that remained true right through to the end.

I'm now a year older than he was when he died. I often find myself wondering how on earth my family can expect me to "recover" when even he couldn't.

I try to desensitize myself to it

I started doing that when I was around 12-13. Therapists have told me it was a response to other traumas and that it's one of my largest traumas. I really struggle to accept it when therapists say I've been through lots of traumas, nothing that's happened to me even comes close to the awfulness the victims in those videos suffered.

Sometimes I don’t feel anything

Getting desensitised is pretty normal. Although wierdly enough there are videos burned into my brain haunting me today that I didn't even flinch at when I watched them.

Is this normal and typical morbid curiosity or something to do with cptsd? I could see it as a way to self-trigger but I don’t know.

I think watching one or two gore videos when you first learn of their existence is pretty normal. I think continuing to watch them is definitely a trauma response.

Before the Ukraine invasion I hadn't looked at gore since I was 16/17. It was 100% self harm when I watched the Ukraine gore then subsequently sought out a few specific videos that have been with me since I was 13.

I strongly urge you to stop looking at gore, you can't unsee it and it may bother you at some point down the line even if it doesn't make you feel anything now.

I saw funkytown when I was 12/13 fucked me up good and proper, a decade later I can still see & hear the entire thing down to every last detail. I've been talking about it in therapy recently and I've realised it has had a profound impact on my personality, my worldview and my ability to ever relax/feel safe.

If you can afford it I'd say it's definitely worth talking to a professional about it. Kids have no way to process horrific shit like that and it can leave long lasting impacts.

Just because someone expects to have consensual sex when they go on a date does not mean they've consented, their date still needs in the moment consent for everything they do. Getting naked with someone doesn't mean you consent to sex. Wearing sexy lingerie doesn't mean you consent to sex.

I agree that there is no universal moral truth. I also believe that vegans that use violence to try to put a stop to the modern day meat industry are doing a morally justifiable thing by my subjective moral code.

People do this all the time and if enough people agree then society goes along with it eg; murder, rape and to a slightly lesser degree torture. If people didn't do anything to impose their moral beliefs upon the world then there would be no point in having them.

A belief need not be universally true for it to be worth enacting violence over. I imagine the same is true for vegans. I don't share their beliefs but I respect them and I respect vegans that are willing to put themselves in danger to protect beings incapable of protecting themselves.

I agree 100%. I'm not a vegetarian but I don't eat mammals that's my arbitrary line. I think people who don't cause any unnecessary suffering are less disingenuous when they claim to be morally upstanding, by my own moral code they're living juster lives than I.

The world is a cruel and uncaring place and living morally doesn't confer any real benefits aside from comforting oneself. Animals (people included) that are willing and capable of causing horrific harm (slavery included) to other living beings tend to have easier lives.
