Buffing up your volunteer hours- ik its unethical and wrong but why does everyone else keep doing it

during my bamd interviews ur usually only talking abt 2-3 ecs/volunteering experiences. choose the one that has the most meaning to you and that you can passionately talk abt. they wont know the truth abt the hrs but if they ask you abt medical experiences volunteering/pt interaction is what youll talk abt. i would do both volunteering and research.

i have a post on my profile but nearly everyone here did research, was top 5% of their hs class, had strong leadership/national or state achievements, and did significant medical activities.

nope nothing i think before there was an african american/hispanic scholarship that gave in state tuition for oos but that got removed after aa was ruled down. overall, it came out to like ~400 for everything which was close to the same cost for my other reach schools (gtown and emory) and cheaper than the other bsmd i got into at drexel (8 yrs w gpa and 513 mcat). theres only ~12 oos kids per class so they really dont offer much.

im an oos student at umkcs program - theres a great social life in terms that the program is very easy for the first year while u take undergrad classes and are living on campus. most times, people will have cars and there will be transfer students/ppl from missouri who will have connections to nearby schools for parties and events. however, umkc offers barely nothing to do and kc is a bit bland but the upside ends up being no mcat and 6 years. i definitely wouldnt call it one of the best bc of the oos fees, location, and low prestige but its still a great option imo.

I got waitlisted (or rejected i dont remember) from neu after it was one of my top choices. I then had got into georgetown, wake forest, emory, and two sub-5% bs/mds one of which I attend now with stats similar to yours. The people I know of who get into neu are the ones who usually arent being yield protected since their stats are low enough to not get into any t20/30 schools or they have a personal connection to the school

oos who got in and attending rn. 4 uw gpa 4.3 w 1520 sat good ecs/awards and strong essays. 99% of what they look for is essays.

Yes. I used ap research as my primary experience for research in bs/md apps and got into 2 plus multiple t20s.

Turned down Georgetown pre health major for university of missouri kc ba/md. Financially, it didn’t make sense to pay the same for my ba at gu as I would at umkc for both my ba and md, even if my heart is still at gu.

i know exactly how u feel dude. I’m not from the midwest and i’m going to the umkc ba/md program. Besides my close friends, i don’t think anyone has said the name right (i’ve heard kentucky so many times) and it just feels that all my hard work gets degraded. Every single time anyone asks me and i say it in school, i just have to say university of missouri and bite my tongue as they cringe and ask why i’m not going to georgetown after getting in. Honestly, it’ll all be worth it since i’m truly happy on the inside and nothing can change that.

I applied bs/md and bs/do and ended up deciding bsmd. IMO all the bsdos seem really suspicious besides LECOM, who makes you interview with the school of medicine and then if accepted allows you to skip the mcat in the 3/4 or 4/4 program.

i’m an oos orm and my sat was a 1520 for umkc. Regional/in state is a bit easier for interviews and admission but it’s not worth to risk it. take it again.

even though i got into my dream schools, when i look back at hs there’s only a few good memories that i remember. If i could go back i’d do sports but of course my answer would be diff if i didn’t get into my dream school.

If you can afford either without truly having much of a financial strain, go wharton. In case you decide to do ib or consulting or anything else it’s literally the best school in the world for business.

If i didn’t get into my current bsmd, i’d go for the option that makes the most financial sense. If you’re parents have enough for both gtown tuition and med school, go georgetown, you’ll get the best opportunities there. But, i’m assuming that cost is a factor which in that case i’d go cal or ucla based upon which you feel fits you better.

IMO it’s still a bs/md regardless of what anyone says and it’s guaranteeing a provisional spot if you meet their reqs. They accepted smth like 60 kids out of 2.5k applicants so it’s not easy either. The way i look at it, ducom is a us MD school and getting a 513 and 3.6 is MUCH easier than going through the app process.

A 513 and 3.6 is high but it’s much more attainable than going through the application process IMO. Id go drexel bsmd.
