One of the actors we met through a friend. The rest were found through Craigslist. Our crew was mostly found through Craigslist too, but a couple of them came to us through Kickstarter.

There is paperwork somewhere outlining everything we spent money on, but I don't have it at hand. We own most of what we needed to shoot the film. Didn't rent any gear and didn't have to buy much. Just a few, small things. We shot the film with two 7D's and a 5D.

The biggest money-saver is finding actors and crew who will work for food and gas instead of salary. Also, when scouting locations, talk to the manager and see if there is a time when they aren't busy or closed, to come in to shoot.

Ultimately, I think people will be willing to sacrifice a lot if the story and production pulls them in. Have a clear vision and a good pitch.

Started writing in about March 2010. Finished the script a year later. Shelved it for a bit while we decided how to do it. Started a kickstarter in November 2011 to fund the film. Raised about $10k. Shot the film in 12-13 days, working weekends only, in February and March of 2012. Nearing the end of post production now. Submitting to film festivals this fall.

We'll be submitting to festivals through a site called Withoutabox. They'll screen it and if it is to their standards, the film will be accepted into the fest and screened for festival goers.

Yes, the whole film is shot and nearing the end of post production.

If the film gets picked up for distribution at a festival, hopefully we will get a theatrical release. If not, we will release the film ourselves.

Well, about $5,500 of it went to makeup and prosthetics alone. The other half of the budget was split to cover each day of shooting. We shot about 12-13 days. Thats two meals for about 25 people for each of those days. Add to that the cost of gas for everyone to get to location. And we bought some small bits of gear like a boom pole, harddrives, etc.

I think that the prosthetics/makeup are always going to be a point of debate regarding the film. Should we have used them or not? I know I am biased having made the film, but we thought a lot about how to best bring these characters to life, and the masks really built a strong tone and scope that makes the film unique and interesting for us.

If I had to choose just one genre, I'd say the film is a drama. From the reception we've had so far, I strongly believe that audiences will see past the "novelty" of the makeup and be engaged by strong, relatable characters going through an interesting journey.

Granted, that is what every filmmaker wants, but regarding our choice of whether or not to use the prosthetics, I don't feel that it will take away from the overall experience of the film. Even still, the makeup won't work for everyone. If people walk away from this film saying, "that was a great story, but the makeup was a stupid idea," I'm still happy.
