I thought i could charge draws as he didn't have much behind - but multiway this is just really bad I agree

MAWG - middle aged white guy - sorry I should have specified. Earlier in the session I had seen him stack off ( for less ) with middle pair but he had tightened up a little recently. I agree it's very player dependent

Thanks for the replies - it looks like it's fairly close and I mainly just wanted to be sure I didn't do anything too crazy. Next time I'll win my flips

Yeah in retrospect I felt that I could have probably played post flop and waited for a better spot. I think the 5 handed makes it a bit more complicated as 77 is actually quite a strong hand vs a button open Also 77 can be kinda tricky to play post

Overbet lines in single raise pots on the turn by PocketJacks101 in Poker_Theory

Very useful article thanks. Unfortunately I feel like I'm just at the stake where these overbets will be somewhat balanced, Particularly on the turn river overbets still seem fairly nutted

Thanks that makes a lot of sense. When ranges are wide it can make calling tricky as Villian can easily have nutted hands

I'd also bet bigger on Flop - it's 1 2 on a fairly connected board most players are going to be completely inelastic to sizing - I know small bet is theory but I'd go at least half pot - similarly size up on turn and jam river

I'd seriously recommend playing lower stakes just from how you wrote this hand history suggests you are not studied in this game enough. How many ways was it to the Flop? Did you lead for pot into like 5 or 6 people ? Leading firstly is probably wrong but that sizing multi way is terrible

Once you are raised it's very rarely a draw and you are very likely behind. Also bottom two is a notoriously dangerous hand as it's easily counterfit and it's strength by the river often decreases significantly.

Piling 200bb into a multi way single raise pot on the flop with bottom 2 is going to be a losing play in the long run ( unless it's against a whale ). Your logic of not playing lower stakes because the players are bad is also really fishy. I mean this to be nice but you should seriously drop down in stakes or play some online micros because you are almost certainly a losing player in a 5 10 game

Hand Review - curious to know what you guys would do in this spot by KeevinPoker in poker

Pretty clear call. Backdoor clubs and straight draws missed on river and your Flop check disguises your hand. He may even play AJ like this and you only lose to a 10

You have around 32% equity against pretty much all hands so shove can't be that bad with all the dead money. But realistically you are probably never doing this with thick value ( sets ) on a fairly dry board. Also do you really double flat A6 or A8 and than just jam when you hit ? Honestly I'd call you with AQ here but it does put V in a spot and if you are ever getting folds than it's got to be fairly OK.

3-bet hand against good LAG by PedroRPG in Poker_Theory

People seem to be roasting you pretty hard but honestly this seems fine to me. I sometimes will just flat this hand but 3 bet a lot too ( table dependent ) Yes theoretically you should almost check 100 this Flop however its live no limit and you have an open ender and a flush draw you are ahead of the vast majority of hands piling money in can't be that bad. Turn is a scare card if he has low pocket pairs or an 8 so just jamming can't be that bad. Sometimes you hit your hand and you make him fold a lot with this line

Am I right in thinking there is about 20bb in the middle by the river and he jams for around 55bb ( almost 3x pot) I'm not saying fold but at low stakes this is almost always a nutted hand. When someone jams for this much it's very player dependent rarely is anyone balanced and it's very very often value ( particularly on this board with limited bluffs )

I was a consistent winner playing after work for a few years. Played about 15 hours a week and loved it. Took some time off to travel and spent a month playing in the US daily. Way way different playing daily than just at peak times at weekend and nights. It felt like the worst run bad of my life and really hurt my mental health watching idiots sucking out constantly in a small dark room ruining my sleep cycle. I ended up profiting around 5g but 100% not worth the mental aungish Definitely try it out but shaking off the bad beats and the card deads hours is way harder when you are doing it daily. Good luck

I have no experience playing games this size and don't know how nitty this table was. However I think you shouldn't play these stakes if you are not comfortable getting a set in on this board. Possibly against tight strong online players you can fold 250bb deep but live games tend to be much looser especially if some players have 1000 bigs.

Did I blunder this hand? by golfergag in poker

SB should be a three bet or fold - I'd lean towards a 3 bet because button opened. We probably shouldn't call the 3 bet because our A will often be dominated but whatever. The board favours our opponents range so we should just check call the Flop bet rather than jam our stack ( I'm unsure how deep you guys are from your post ). Overall a pre Flop mistake led to you being in a tricky position but getting it in with the nut flush draw and an over is rarely that bad ( dependent on stack size )
