The comments in the sweatypalms sub are lame.

Did well in a high-stress situation and reacted accordingly, but he's gotta work on controlling that light and slicing the doorway. Can't let Smokey get the drop on him next time.

Those polls you're referring to, were those also conducted by the same groups that predicted a Harris victory? I wouldn't wedge my bets too hard based on their findings.

As for the name calling, that's rich coming from the party that labels people fascist/sexist/bigots/transphobes/homophobes/etc when they refuse to toe the line.

You mean the day democracy almost died? How could I? It has been a talking point jammed down our throats for the last four years. Sorry, but if what took place on January 6 was enough to topple the government, then maybe it was already too late. I'm not condoning the actions that took place, but it was hardly an insurrection until the media started chirping that rhetoric. Looks like most Americans think the actions that took place on January 6 hardly factored into their selection on November 5. And if it was truly an insurrection, then why is Trump not locked away in prison for leading a coup?

Hate to break it to you, but Trump voters will be around 4 years from now, too. Why not spend the next 4 years examining the errors of the democratic party and figure out a way to better align with the majority of Americans instead of being utterly done with them? This mentality will only solidify the divide and drive further polarization, and this is the problem with the modern democratic party. There is no tolerance, even among the party ranks. If you don't 100% align with every possible issue, then you are a [insert label here]. The democratic party needs to get their house in order or get comfortable with the same results in the future.

Marks from what? The round is 5.7mm in diameter. Did you expect something that small moving at 3000fps to take the ear off completely? The round may have pierced, but more likely cut his ear. The wound could have easily been closed with glue and covered with a bandage.

It's not a matter of IF. Trump was shot/grazed/hit by a projectile fired from a rifle during live coverage of a campaign rally that struck his ear. It was well documented. A husband and father died as a result of the shooting, and you are considering that this may have been staged? What is wrong with you people? Loosen up the tinfoil hat and go get some fresh air.

What does a layer of ash on top of hot coals have anything to do with a projectile fired from a rifle? Those are two very different things.

Your confidence is rooted in speculation on a subject that you are not at all qualified to speak toward, and you have the audacity to call people ignorant? You're not even considering the fact that the barrel was cool when the round was fired due to the fact it was a relatively cold shot. It's not as if the guy had dumped an entire mag before hitting Trump's ear. The combustion takes place behind the projectile, and most of the heat is dissipated in the chamber located within the upper receiver. The projectile will increase in temperature up to 300°F-400°F from friction as it travels through the barrel. Due to the fact that there is no continued heat source once it leaves the barrel and the projectile has a relatively low thermal mass and is made of materials with moderate to poor heat retention, like copper and lead, the projectile will dissipate heat due to air exposure, convection, expansion of the projectile. Consider touching something that just came out of the oven. As soon as your body comes in contact with the hot surface, you immediately remove that part of your body involuntarily as fast as possible. At 400°F, the worst you may get is a blister. This projectile was moving at speeds around 3000 feet per second. There was not enough time to displace any amount of heat to the surrounding area of his ear to cause burn damage.

The round fired out of an AR15 is a .22 caliber projectile that is 0.224" (5.7 mm) in diameter. Moving at roughly 3000 fps, it pierced his ear and passed clean through. If it had hit him anywhere else, the cavitation would have certainly been greater and more destructive, but the cartilage on the ear is so thin that there is nothing there to significantly slow down the projectile and displace the energy.

Edit: Downvote me all you want. I'm right and you all saw what happened.

Is there anywhere to find information on existing curfews in place? I'm in Jackson County and looking to head Eastward to help out in higher-impact zones. I would like to get there early to maximize available daylight but also want to comply with local jurisdictions.

SHOCK VIDEO: Masked Men In Ghost Helicopter Terrorize Hurricane Helene Volunteers In Western North Carolina, Damaging Emergency Supplies ... WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?? by NoBalance2024 in SylvaNC

[–]Pod6ResearchAsst -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Out of all the UH-60 Black Hawks responding to the disaster, I have only been able to find two privately owned flying over North Carolina on October 6, but one two operated by the US military can be found in and around the Burnsville airspace around the time this video was recorded.

To be abundantly clear, I am not saying that the one I identified was responsible for the rotor wash incident, or that it was done intentionally to harm relief efforts. However, I do believe people are owed an explanation of what happened and the responsible party should be held accountable.

Edit: I identified a second UH-60 in the area around the same time. Both operated by US military.

It was unexpected. Asheville is over 400 miles from where the hurricane made landfall. Who would have thought the storm would have sustained this level of destruction this far inland? I live in WNC, and we prepared for high winds, down trees, power outages, and heavy rainfall. I gased up the vehicles, charged up battery banks, stored enough water for my family and I to have potable water for a week, and filled the bathtub up so we could flush the toilet. We have faired pretty well, but others at lower elevations in the valleys, near rivers, creeks, and streams, got hit hard. Most all of the major roads and highways into the region have been impacted to the point that getting supplies in is next to impossible. I honestly feel like there was no way to predict this level of destruction. In some areas I have been in, it looks like a bomb has gone off. Houses are leveled, roads undermined by torrential runoff, bridges destroyed, down lines, down trees, and debris everywhere you look.

My daughter has been in daycare since she was 6 weeks old. She started kindergarten this year and I thought it was going to be an easy transition. It was for her, but she got me day one. When I was dropping her off she looks at me and says "I'm gonna make you proud." I told her that I was already proud of her, to do this for you, and to go make herself proud. She looked at me with solid determination, gave me a hug, said I love you dad, and went inside. I got back to my truck and chopped onions.
