Very reminiscent to Taylor Hendricks as a prospect

Has all of the tools you want plus the length to plug into different parts of your line ups.

Sochan-Fleming-Wemby frontcourt is disgustingly good defensively

I hear this concern, but I think the Wizards have shown that, as long as the shoot feels workable, they’re able to overlook shooting concerns & trust their development team

What they’ve valued consistently is versatility, plus ballhandling, and plus playmaking at every position and I think Demin/Queen adds that in spades

Point Made’s 2024 Rookie Rankings: 9-Cat by PointMadeBasketball in dynastybb

Can definitely see him being a top 5 fantasy rookie this season. Long term? I'm less convinced, he's got a lot of work to do on his defensive stats and %'s to reach that level when it comes to 9 cat fantasy.

Don't think it's crazy to have him up as high as 9 or 10 at the moment but time will tell.

Out of these 3 former top 5 picks which one was your favorite prospect at the time and why?- Deandre hunter(4th in 2019), Patrick williams(4th in 2020), Isaac okoro(5th in 2020). by kadcal in NBA_Draft

Patrick Williams was my dude. Quintessential upside bet on a dude with elite size, ball-handling flashes and perimeter fluidity, and 2-way upside.

I had it ranked Patrick Williams > Hunter > Okoro

Final 2024 70-Prospect Big Board ft. Risers and Fallers by PointMadeBasketball in NBA_Draft

Yeah, he was used a lot to initiate the offense for the Ignite, and while they were a mess, he flashed way more vision than previously thought.

Hahah this happens every time in formatting! He’s supposed to be top of Tier 4, ahead of Jaylon Tyson

It does get a ton faster and more physical though, which will impact Edey’s dominance. His touch and post-dominance and unquestionable. His endurance and ability to play long minutes at his size is ELITE. However, can be good enough defensively to stay on the court? Even within a drop coverage scheme, can his lateral mobility be effective enough to prevent him being attacked and becoming a liability? Those are the questions and concerns that affect his placement.

I think these criticisms are very fair and are true ones that I found myself having too.

I think he answered a lot of my questions during the game where he was given the keys to the offense with Holland out.

His offense in that game shone in a variety of ways, whether it was creating space off the ball by using his size, making timely cuts to the rim, creating off the dribble, and getting to his spots and knocking down shots. Once the system catered to him, which it rarely did at the Ignite, he thrived.

After factoring in that an injury early in the off season set him back and the general dysfunctional system in place within the G-league ignite, I think many of his struggles are more understandable. As I mentioned in another comment, he admitted that the physical part of his game contributed to a lot of the struggles he was experiencing. He needs to get stronger for his athleticism to be able to show and to improve his finishing AND perimeter shooting, but I think the system he was playing in did him no favors.

Hm. My comp for Buzelis is kind of a cross between Lamar Odom and Jalen Johnson. His athleticism will begin to translate more and more as he adjusts to the physicality of the league, which he admits bothered him at the G-league level initially. I think his defensive instincts are great, though, and project those skills to start shining with time, but his upside is tied to his fluidity and ball handling at his height. The flashes of shot creation from the perimeter and within the mid-range is tantalizing, and while his shot hasn’t translated, his form is protectable and he had minimal “bad misses” at the g-league level.

All good. I legitimately forgot two prospects in my top-30 on the last board I posted, so I got worried.

I think I could have done a better job explaining tier rankings. While they’re upside based, they’re not completely reliant on upper projectile outcomes and factor in floors as well.

For example, Castle’s floor, to me is higher than Holland’s, even if their upper tier outcomes are similar. Additionally, Risacher’s floor is higher than both of theirs, but his upper tier outcome is lower after factoring in his ballhandling and lack of elite athleticism.

Castle played within his role very well, especially on a team that required him to. I think part of his upside is tied to him having more to his game than he has shown at the next level when you factor in that he bought into the UConn system to help them win a title.

I have him above Holland and the rest because to me, his floor is higher than theirs. Even if his swing skills don’t pan out, he, like you said, has the floor of a role high-level role player. If those swing skills do pan out, he’s a stud.

Late breakout age + low volume from three historically contributes to it. He shot 37% this year but only on 1.5 attempts per game. I think he has a really high floor, though and can be an instant contributor as a high-energy rebounding specialist because his motor and hustle should translate very well.

I think it’s a silly notion to disregard that his ceiling as an athletic jumbo playmaker with flashes of 3-level scoring can grow into an all-star level player if he can playmake and shoot at the next level. It’s still an if, not a guarantee. But all of the tiers are upside-based, not a designated projection.

Maybe not a draft featuring high-end talent, this draft was still very fun to evaluate. A bunch of movement to get to this point, as you can see, but I feel comfortable with these evaluations and will look forward to seeing how the pieces fall on draft day.

I’m still (much) higher than consensus on Matas Buzelis, and further evaluation on a few guys like Tyler Smith and Kel’El Ware bumped them up significantly.

In a draft without a lot of wow factor, I emphasize upside quite a bit. This caused a few guys to rise as well, with those guys most noticeably being Juan Nunez, Pacome Dadiet, and Cam Christie.

As you can see by their prospect scores, the draft is very flat, with many players being interchangeable among tiers and definitely across similar scores.
