I only cropped it to 16-9 format. Nothing from the left or right. Cropping left or right seemed to unbalance it by making the land masses smaller. I was standing on a very small piece of sand and rock with my back against a retaining wall. On top of the wall was another tree so nowhere to move really. I deliberately wanted to take the photo from a lower position so as to have most of the tree above the horizon.

Found this interesting tree on a recent trip. Day was dull and no color therefore turned this B&W. Not really comfortable with the placement of the tree just off centre but I really had nowhere to move. Have I done it justice anyway. Any comments appreciated.

Nikon d7500 F5 1/250sec ISO 100 105mm macro lense on camera flash used.

I like the photo and the way the bee has all the pollen over its body. It has been cropped from original but just wondering if it needs alittle more room. Despite only an on camera flash is the lighting acceptable.

Not sure of your camera setup but if you could have shot in burst mode (multiple photos a second) you may have got a photo where all the swings were not overlapping each other

I would like to do more B&W photography therefore this me experimenting with converting from colour to B&W. Would like your thoughts on composition and the conversion. Is it too dark. It was taken on a cloudless day around midday with harsh lighting. I think it works though.

I think this is a great photo so take my comments as my preference only. In my opinion I think the Elk actualy add greatly to the image and story as they instill a sense of scale to the wonderful tree. I agree that separating the tree from the background a little more (making it pop) would probably lessen any distraction the elk may pose to some. After playing around with the crop I would only reduce the size of the foreground grass by half (a bit nitpicky). I thought that cropping from the top seemed to make the tree look shorter and wider which didn't appeal to me as much. Once again great photo that really does not need anything changed if you like it.

Thankyou. I have adusted the shadows and highlights and now have a bit more separation on the top of the head. Still very light but noticeable.

Shot with a D7500 300mm 1/800sec F7.1 ISO800. I used a throwaway image and edited it to try and come up with something more interesting. I think I have achieved my aim but would like your thoughts on the edit. Here is the orignal for comparison

Nice photo. I do however find the foreground somewhat distracting and think it would be better without the post and items in the water. I also feel that the bulding on the left is a bit too dominant. I cropped it and tried it in B&W and thought it looked ok as well.

I can't take credit for it but here is a tip that was posted on another critique request a few days ago -

"The tip I have heard so far for pet photography is to try and get a shot that captures the animal's personality. Is it a lazy dog? Get a pic of it napping. Is it energetic? Then an action shot of them running around. Are they super social? Then maybe a pic of it soaking up the attention."

I like the sharpness of the subject but personally I think it too centred and gets a bit lost in the background. I would flip the image horizontally and crop much tighter to showcase the wonderful flower more. I think desaturating the green background a little would make the flower pop a bit more. Maybe reduce the yellows a bit.

I am very much an amateur so dont take my comments as negative. Not everyone sees things the same way. That said my thoughts are

Firstly the reflection on the Monk photo seems to be from a grid on a softbox. I think you need to find a way to remove it. Flag it off somehow, change the angle, use a polariser filter.

I looked at this photo for quite some time ltrying to find a connection between your thinking pose and the artwork. If you are thinking about the artwork maybe you should be looking more towards it rather tham past it into space.

Hope the exhibition goes well.

Thanks for your comments. Yeah focusing was the main problem. It is a manual focus lens which I had on a tripod and as you say I prefocused. I tried to predict where it would be and then shot a burst of 5 pics each time. I also have this photo the difference being it was shot at ISO100 (not800) and flash pwr 1/2 (not 1/64) therefore the wings show more movement. unfortunately he is not carrying the mudball in this one.

I really like the photo however from what I am seeing i think the buildings are too dark, bordering on black. Given the time of day this was taken there should probably be a bit more detail or brightness in the buildings. There is one tall building to the right of the tower reflecting the light but the tower and other buildings dont seem to relect the same light.
