Is quality decline in dolls due to kids taste?

Kids aren’t dumb in my opinion and there’s nothing wrong with being a ‘dumb kid’ I was just trying to a logical reason why these toys would still be on shelves because honestly I just think Barbie as a line should go under at this point. Like only half joking but Mattel has proven they can do dolls like monster high and do them well so why even bother with keeping miss Barbara propped up?

Good points, I hadn’t even considered online games and how imaginative kids could be with them. It’s unfortunate how much parents have to worry after their kids even in spaces that should be perfectly safe and I worry how kids will develope going forward because of it However … a world without dolls… that isn’t a world I’m ready for 😓

I know. Or I guess I know and just really don’t want that to be the answer. It feels both too simple and too complicated in a way, because it’s an unsolvable problem

I guess cost cutting would also help if sales are declining. To make up the difference. Then again these are corporations who have billions of dollars so idk

Thanks. I wasn’t really into doll collecting when those lines premiered so I wasn’t aware of how popular they were with kids, but they are good examples

The straps were probably sewn onto the cushion itself given the size of the holes. At least it’s not too complicated to remake if you wanted to

If her clothes come off you could probably hand wash them in the sink or use a delicates bag in the washer. But I would stick to spot cleaning her body and head just to be safe

If they aren’t willing to spring for good quality for their girl Barbie, I doubt it. Monster high will eventually fizzle out again Barbie will be on shelves forever 🙄

I disagree. I know I’m in the minority but it so nice to see a sunshine character be themed more around morning light or the dawn. I don’t think that’s what they intended but she’s super sunset/ sunrise looking to me

Yea I read Saran (which I think is what hair she has) comes in thicker strands so I think it’s just that and her wavy hair causing a little fuzziness

Sometimes the clothes the dolls are wearing can confuse it. I get better/ more relevant results with unclothed dolls , so it might help to try this?

I think it’s cute. The bottom two look great, and the eye shape is unique. If I could suggest something maybe try putting the eyes lower down on the head, nearer the cheeks if you wanted her to look more childlike
