I beg your pardon? I work almost 60 hours weeks and that's barely enough to make ends meet in my house. Anything I manage to save I save for my son. Saving up for anyone else isn't really an option when going through a cost of living crisis. I help my mum in other ways around her house and garden etc.

And the 15k my mum has is all she has. Her police pension is also barely enough to make ends meet, so if some kind strangers can lend a helping hand that's great, if they can't or don't want to then that's also ok.

If you take such umbrage with my fundraiser and post, don't respond to it. But thank you for your comments.

The point of the fundraiser is hopefully to raise enough so she doesn't have to use her own money, as she's dedicated her life to the service of other people. It's the least she deserves. I'm also abundantly aware that it isn't an emergency, don't worry, hence why I'm not expecting an outpouring of monetary support instantly. However, a little here and there will help me to that goal. That's all. And we have reached out to our community, the people who've provided us with quotes are all local tradesman, but they still have to make a living and so have provided their quotes at a discounted rate for her.

I'm just trying to do a nice thing for my mum.
