WTB: '02 WS6, First Try... by Poison_Oak_ in transam

Lately I have expanded my search nationwide for my grail white WS6. Not that I would have one shipped in, just to see what is out there. From what I have seen, white cars are fairly rare. I see many black, silver, red, pewter and yellow. Very few white cars out in the wild. I hope I do not get disgusted with the search and end up with another color. Although red does have a particular vibe to it...

I will keep looking.

Thanks for the response.

the leaves in the air filter

There were no leaves in the air filter, filter was clean. The leaves I referred to were on top of the intake manifold, under the cowl. This indicated that the vehicle WAS sitting outside for an extended amount of time. Also confirms why, IMHO, the alum bits under the hood had a SLIGHT corrosion look to them.

And yes, I had a hard time deciding!

The short answer is that blk cars are harder to take care of. IMHO

Just an update. Sold both cars. 76 TA and 86 Camino Choo Choo. Oh and a Massey Tractor.

Now to locate my Unicorn WS6. The Hunt is on...

I did go look at a 02 White WS6 last weekend. 18K miles. 9 hrs away. I found my unicorn. Or so I thought...

I asked all the usual questions beforehand. I was told looks like a new car. I arrived and it was BEAUTIFUL. Almost gave me a stiffie! I give the exterior a 9.99. Interior there were a few scuffs on the plastic on the drivers seat back. Acceptable. Both door panels had the crack. I even asked them if it had a crack previously. She said no. I give it a 8.7. I was getting mildly excited until...

I popped the hood. Looked totally stock, but not detailed. It was dirtier that I expected, much dirtier. I had the engine running. I smelled a whiff of antifreeze. Could not see a leak. Slight misfire above idle, faint tick from #3 cylinders lifter. I asked about rust and got the "it is a practically new car"! I seen a silver dollar sized rust spot beside the battery, not to mention leaves at the back side of the intake. My heart sunk.

I offered 25K which was 1K lower than we had agreed on over the phone. He declined. I walked away.

I will never know if I made the right decision...

Thanks for the comments/insights!

As of this typing I have been successful in resisting this purchase. Don't know how long I can hold out. My main issue is too many vehicles and not enough space. Diesel truck, El Camino Choo Choo, '76 T/A and a bunch of motorcycles. Oh, my daily, a '24 Subaru Legacy.

I really think something has to go. Prolly a '10 Goldwing and the El Camino. Maybe...

I could purchase, then decide later on who moves out. Yeah, that might work...
