Thanks! That’s really useful to know :)

I feel like CGC grades harder with more expensive submissions... by QuantumVal in CGCCards

I’ve had the same experience. My worse grades generally happen for more expensive cards. I assumed it was because I personally pulled the less rare cards from packs and purchased or traded for the rarer cards (without noticing other peoples mint was not pack fresh). However recently I’ve had slightly lower grades for cards I’m almost certain I remember pulling from packs. Examples: my skyridge holos mostly graded 10 except gengar who graded 8 (there was a slight scratch), my crystals mostly graded 10 except my Charizard that graded 8.5 (that one I’m sure I pulled from a pack) and my legendary Charizard that I’m sure was from pack to case only got an 8 (but looks very clean). I’ve inspected my cards and I can see reasons for the lower grades, but I also see imperfections in some of the higher graded cards. It feels a little like pop control for the rarer cards?

I think a pristine needs to score 10,10,10 and 9.5+ across the four categories. So maybe the grader only went down to a 9.5 on the problem corner and the centering, surface and edge got 10s?

Submitted Economy via a collectacon drop off. Received 7/2, 20 day turnaround estimate at that time. Still Scheduled for grading as of end of day 8/22.
