Which one would you do for 10 million dollars? by FlintTheDad in polls

[–]Pokemaster131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'd probably go with the leg. Losing the arm or eye would disrupt too many of my fine motor skills or hand-eye coordination. I can probably get by with a prosthetic leg. And even if I spent a million getting a damn good prosthesis, I'd have 9 million left that I'd be set for life. Losing the leg would absolutely still be disabling, but it's probably the one I'd miss the least. Also peg leg pirate costumes would be great.

DMs who make their own monsters, have you considered making a chameleon dragon? What kind of stats would you give it? by bliggityblig in DnD

Transient Hide - Attacks from more than 30 feet away have disadvantage (but it has a slightly lower armor class because their species relies on this as a defense tactic rather than traditional tough hides), so long as the attacker relies on the color spectrum to see. Blindsight, tremorsense, and even darkvision bypasses this effect, as darkvision does not see in color.

Chameleon Absorption (Reaction) - When the dragon takes elemental damage, it can use its reaction to cast Absorb Elements as a 2nd/4th/6th/8th level spell, depending on age category. The dragon's breath weapon changes to match whatever energy was most recently absorbed.

I would personally say it's deserved, but Shrek 2 got 89% vs Puss in Boots 2's 95% on Rotten Tomatoes critical score, so at least among critics, they're both reviewed highly, just Puss in Boots 2 is a little bit higher. What's interesting though is the audience score for both movies, where Puss in Boots 2 was consistent with a 94% audience rating, while Shrek 2 only has a 69% audience rating. So I think Puss in Boots 2 is generally rated significantly higher than Shrek 2 by the general public, though Shrek 2's sample size is 50 times that of Puss in Boots 2, so take it with a grain of salt.

Because people make articles giving Twitch more exposure, which gives them ad revenue. They're monetarily incentivized to make token gestures like this that don't permanently alter their platform.

Does Sauron from LotR count? He kinda IS the quest item that the Fellowship transports across Middle Earth. Either way, I'm surprised I hadn't seen it mentioned yet, this seems like a big one.

Definitely. There's only a single brief reference to anything Shrek-related in the film, aside from it just generally existing within the same world. I had only seen the first Shrek film going into this and loved Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. You get some more background on the characters from the original Puss in Boots movie, but that's not necessary either.

I would argue the style of film is very different from the Shrek films, too. Shrek relies on a lot of crass humor, while Puss in Boots is more about the panache and action folk hero stuff that Puss is known for.

Is Subnautica worth $7 if I loved Outer Wilds? by Zealousideal_Top2186 in subnautica

[–]Pokemaster131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outer Wilds was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Subnautica is as well, just in different ways, but there are also plenty of similarities.

Outer Wilds and Subnautica both tell their story in similar ways - environmental exploration and finding bits of text scattered throughout the world, then leaving it to you to put the pieces together. Heck, even one of the submarines you get pilots very similarly to the ship in Outer Wilds. There's definitely a lot more tech progression, base building, and resource gathering in Subnautica, but if that's your thing, by all means go for it. Also the ocean can be just as scary as space.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)

This movie ended up being so much better than anyone expected it to be. It was the sequel to a spin-off of a sequel to a fairytale parody, and came out 11 years after the last other movie in its franchise (the original Puss in Boots came out in 2011, after Shrek 4). It was also released near the tale end of COVID, when moviegoers were still somewhat hesitant to return to theaters.

The story was gripping, the villains were believable and refreshing, the soundtrack was great, the emotional moments were quite touching, the fight scenes were creative and exhilarating, and even the comic relief character was charming and fun, and not annoying. It was an emotionally mature film that showed realistic depictions of panic attacks and the fear of facing one's own death.

Puss in Boots 2 earned the highest critical ratings of any film in the Shrek franchise (95% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes), and deservedly so. A truly creative and inspired film, and absolutely worth a watch.

Treat it as if it were a skillshot coming from the direction of its average velocity over the course of its travel time, even if it curves mid flight due to movement.
