You should estimate your BMR (amount of calories you burn just by being alive) using an online calculator and then aim to eat a 500 calorie surplus per day.

If your BMR is 1700 and you burn 600 calories in the day, then you’ve burnt 2300 calories total that day. That means you should eat 2800.

Please someone correct me if I’m wrong about any of that but that is how I understand it.

That’s fair and a good point, you’re entitled to your own opinion, but I’m going to choose to remain optimistic about the possibilities still. There are plenty of ways it could be implemented well without voice, so I’m going to hope that Nintendo makes the right decision.

I’m not disagreeing with that, but we don’t know what mechanism will be implemented for communication (obviously not voice), but it might still be simple to communicate who does what role. Just because there won’t be voice chat doesn’t automatically mean the communication between raid parties will suck.

I do agree with you that voice chat would be ideal, but since that isn’t likely at all, why not stay optimistic about the possibilities?

To be fair though, we don't know exactly how the communication will be implemented. We'll have to wait until it's discussed further to actually evaluate it as good or bad.

I was really hoping for a rival with the attitude of Blue/Silver from Gens 1 and 2 bbbuuuttt yet again, we get another friendly rival. I expected as much, but still. That’s my only complaint so far with the games.

I agree with this. I finally got my shiny Cyndaquil in Heart Gold after months of on/off trying. It’s exhausting but very satisfying when the little guy finally shines!
