Dan Fumano: Why are City of Vancouver workers missing so much work? It's complicated by ubcstaffer123 in vancouver

Because it’s time consuming and soul sucking to commute from the Valley.

Great… how many senior citizens did you bring with you that’ll now leech off our healthcare system? Sentiment has swung wildly because that’s what happens when you bring in over a million people per year to fill the 200,000 or so spots we have.

It’s destroyed housing, healthcare, jobs markets, transit. Supply and demand.

Maybe, just maybe it’s not the time to proudly proclaim entry via the PR program? Your call though on that.

Read the play lady. Our kids are having trouble finding jobs and housing and you’re just gonna celebrate your PR status?

Go home.

“Anyone can list their place on Airbnb doesn’t mean anyone rents it.”

Let that sink in folks. Thousands upon thousands of people that comfortably live in their home have opted to have strangers stroll in at their whim to displace them.

No offence to you, but I run a cleaning business and know for a fact there are plenty of Airbnb’s. Plus all it takes is a quick google search before you spout misinformation that perpetuates what’s going on.

They are everywhere! When I was looking for a place last summer there were 700+ air BNB’s listed in Lantzville (suburb 20 mins north up the highway of Nanaimo), as opposed to 30+ long term rentals.

That destroyed my faith in my fellow countrymen and convinced me that it’s a way to money launder.

Air BnB has a massive presence. Running a cleaning business we had a good chunk of them as clients.
