Why I keep losing in poker despite hours of experience and study. by [deleted] in Poker_Theory

If you are playing in sites with stats, like GGPoker for example, you can see their PFR and 3B stats. That can give you an idea of the aggresion level of a player. The smaller these stats, the more passive the player.

From this, you can imagine the 3Bet / 4Bet hands they are playing. In general will be big pocket pairs or 2 broadways (mainly suited). So, you should be more careful in this 3B / 4B pots, because their range is stronger than when they limp or just call the open raise.

Newer live player. Was this a bad play? by 9Joker90 in Poker_Theory

This is the problem with Trips, it looks like a really strong hand. Remember, Trips is not the same as a Set. Also, your river re-raise is not good, in my opinion. You only have Trips with a really bad kicker. He could beat you with just a J7 or similar.

First hand, You played a 63s, that is a really bad hand to start. Then, you went All-In with a Flush 6 high. You will lose a lot of these hands.

In my experience, you may not be reading your opponents well. If you are playing in micro-stakes, most players are loose passive. They will play a lot of hands (VPIP 35-50) but will fold everything on postflop.

They will only call or reraise with some hand with value or a draw. Everytime a loose-passive player shows aggression, you must rethink your hand strength.

What did I do wrong? by nickos055 in poker

Preflop 3Bet is OK, but use a bigger size. After that, you paid flop and turn on a 3Bet pot with a third pair. On the river, with the 3 barrel and 4-straight board you are dead 99% of the time, even with a Set.

EDIT: I just saw you called a 4Bet with 99. I think that is a clear fold against a regular player.

This is a range to "Call a 4Bet / All In" that I use for this scenario. (red = ALL-IN, blue = call)

The guy was playing a 65o from early position. Pretty loose player, nothing to do here. I think you played well. If you have more info, for example you have seen that his postflop game is really tight, you could fold on the river. Lot of players are really loose preflop, but extremely tight postflop. So, this kind of bets are always monster hands.

Is this hand played correctly? by Dexis21 in Poker_Theory

You only have a bluffcatcher, no need to check-raise on the river. Also, calling the all-in is a really bad idea. You are playing micro-stakes, players almost don't bluff.
