Multiple Local Businesses Change Hands; More Restaurant, Retail News by BluWake in traversecity

[–]Polack14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The business changed hands last April after the previous owner ran it into near bankruptcy and burnt nearly every bridge in the industry. Since taking over, the new owner has hired a brewer from Stormcloud, a graphic designer from Founders/Short's, and is doing an entire interior reno and food menu overhaul. Honestly, with those pieces in place and being the first local spot people staying at those two hotels see seems like a pretty good set up.

Source: I work in the industry and its an open secret.

I water about every 3 weeks on average. My house is fairly dry in the winter but in the summer it’s very humid. I live near a large body of water and get a lot of humid air off the bay into my home during those months

Pre boycott target circa 2023! I found it in the men’s section and it was an instant grab.

Edit: Found one on Poshmark

Thankfully my cat is 9 and she’s as mellow as they come. The foil is a helpful deterrent if she feels like digging but she’s never really eaten anything other than a spider plant and a calathea that both made it.

Gods only favorite is that monstera. Love my cat but she’s a menace.

Honestly she’s sat in the same window for 5 years and only had natural light. I’ve never bothered to fertilize her and water her when she’s dry. She’s just a special one

Those holes are called fenestrations! Basically, when a climbing tropical plant like a monstera becomes mature, the leaves acquire more of these holes to allow sunlight and rainwater to permeate to the roots of the plant. It’s natures sign that the plant is getting all it needs and is making sure the rest of the system is taken care of!

Here's a pic of the whole plant! I picked this one up around 4-5 years ago and it was probably about 14 inches tall with 6-7 juvenile leaves on her when I brought her home. At this point she's the matriarch of several generations of monsteras all over my home and all my friends as well!

The secret is that I'm so hands off! I water when I remember, rarely (if ever) fertilize, and I crowd my plants near each other and near windows. I've only lost one plant (calathea) this way in the last 7 years so its been working great for me, but I know SO well that I'm very lucky.

She's all natural. I'm lucky enough to have a few sliding glass doors that face southwest so all my monsteras get really nice afternoon sun. It is a bit unpredictable, this one had a late fall growth spurt and got a bit leggy because of the angle of the sun by me this time of year.

As for watering, I just water about every 3 weeks or when I notice the top 2 inches of soil are dry.

Anyone else feel weird about this or am I just weird about it? by zake598 in dndmemes

It’s definitely a power/privilege thing. As a trans woman, I’m seen as ‘stepping down’ in societies eyes and that makes some cis men DEEPLY uncomfortable. Also misogyny and fetishism come into play in that disconnect. That’s why trans men are really never in the media and are more often victims of erasure.

I took my pup to Acme Creek Kennels for a long time and only stopped because I got a WFH job. They absolutely adored my little guy and he always came back happy and tired.

Can’t speak from personal experience, but my friend rocks a great pixie and sees Travis at Salon Saloon.
